Panasonic P50U50 vs Samsung P51E530?

Any opinions? Trying to decide between these two for a bedroom TV. Panasonic is 50" and Samsung is 51"

Which one has better pq? Any reliability issues?

I own both of these sets. imo, the panny has better black levels, shadow detail & overall pq.

And if you're a sports viewer, whenever there's a game played @ an indoor venue there will be some brightness fluctuations from an overally active ABL circuit inside the sammy hardware.

If you're an avid gamer, imo, one should opt for the sammy, as it has less input lag & IR.

I went to buy the U50 on Sunday but the store didn't have any in stock... they had the E530 but I hadn't done as much research on it as I wanted to before buying. Going back tomorrow (Saturday) to pick up a set. Now it's between the U50 (I don't think they'll have any in stock) or the E530, OR the UT50 or E550 if the price is right...


I put Hugo on top of my Netflix queue this week so I'll have some good material to watch once it's set up. I know it won't be perfect or calibrated before the "100 hours" but it's full screen and I won't be able to just run slides while I'm there. I figured between Hugo and my copy of The Police: Certifiable Blu-Ray I'll be able to get a good feel for the set.

Replacing my 6+ year old Sam DLP that just died and wifey gave me the okay to get a new set!!!

Saw both in the store just now and they both look excellent. WAY better than my current Samsung 43" 720p plasma.

I think I might go with the Panasonic. Deciding factor is that my current $100 wall mount that is made for 30-47" TVs still fits on the 50" plasma.

The current wall mount I have is rated for 26-47" TVs, but it fits on the 50" just fine and the weight rating is above the weight of the 50"

Any reason why I shouldnt use this mount?

Nope. Just a different model number so that Best Buy and Amazon etc can avoid having to price match Costco.
