What can we expect from 2013 Panasonic Plasmas? - Page 35

I''m pretty psyched for the reviews. My prediction, based on past performance and pre-release hype: the zt60 will win black levels, color reproduction, glare reduction, and overall image quality (at least for the purists); the f8500 will be brighter, have more "pop", better noise reduction, have a cleaner more LCD like image, and double as an clothes dryer smile.gif
...and sound like you have a crop duster dusting your house outside. :rimshot:

I love plasma but when I get high enough I like LCD!

IIRC, Panasonic rates their Plasma panels for use up to and beyond 9,200 feet above sea level.

Not sure if this was posted but here are the latest pdf data sheets for the ZT60 and VT60.

WTF is with Panasonic reducing the number of HDMI inputs from 4 to 3 on their flagships this year?? I guess not enough of us need that 4th input, but it's a requirement for me as i run all four of my HDMI sources directly to the display so each one can have it's own picture settings without having to share settings from another device. It's the primary reason i went with the GT50 over the ST50. End of an era frown.gif

I noticed that too. I thought it was a misprint. I wonder who makes these decisions? How much money could they possibly be saving by omitting a fourth hdmi input? Especially since last years flagship model had four.confused.gif

What's the verdict, same 3D glasses as the 50 series. Or new?

Haven't seen anything to say yet, but I would assume they are the same, or at least last years will work. I have read it is still bluetooth technology. Only reason last years changed from the previous year is it went from IR to Bluetooth technology and became an industry standard across most brands.

Glasses are new...but older Bluetooth will work.

I am a vt50 owner, do I need to start hoarding glasses?

The 2013 models come with 2 pairs of glasses
post #1031 of 1446
I'm not buying a 2013 model, I have 2 pair for my 2012 model, so will I need to get glasses as spares ASAP?

My only point was in reference to 2013 owners buying up the 2012 glasses I don't see it as much of any issue with the 2013 coming with glaases. Are the glasses hard to find ?

I know getting the older Panasonic glasses for a fair price is hard to do. Might not be a bad idea. After market models will probably always be available though.

Chris,

Is that March shipping date solid for the ST60's I see April on Pannys website ?

2013 glasses will work with the 2012 panels

I'm hoping that the cost has decreased for the 2013 glasses similar to how the starting price on the TVs seems to be lower overall compared to the 2012s. I am basing that on the ST60 being cheaper at launch then the 2012s were.

Agree. Actually the insider just updated his thoughts in a new post:

He said the ZT reminds him of his Kuro in terms of black level but is brighter and sharper than his Kuro.

Weird. Meanwhile Samsung has restored the fourth HDMI input on their 2013's after reverting to 3 in 2012.

I'm reloading every single day (or was it every few hours?) looking for the 65" VT60 to actually have stock somewhere. Anyone have a sense of when these things will actually be out? I know the ZT60 was something like May, but I thought that the normal ST60 and VT60 were supposed to be available by now.
Where did you hear they would be available now? That goes against everything I've heard and what past has proven.
Don't know what I was reading. Just reviewed a bunch of CES material and apparently even the VT60 is not expected until April/May?
I think one of their models was said to come out at the end of February. Their cheapest one. Then there was another model (higher up) said to come out at the end of March or April I think. Then ZT end of May. I thought I had read that at either Panasonic or more likely VE.

AVJ said the 2012 bluetooth glasses (ST50/GT50/VT50) will work with the 2013 models since both are bluetooth.

There is nothing solid as far as release dates go. Been doing this for years now. Sometimes they are early, on time, or late. ST is supposed to be in March, VT60 April, and VT60 May/June.

Hey, they had to find some way to keep the MSRP under $4K! LOL!

So that answer's Randy's question: Samsung stole Panasonic's 4th HDMI input. smile.gif

This is accurate, based on what I have heard.

www.abt.com/mobile/product_list.php?category_id=461&pg=0&sort=price_desc

Has anyone pre ordered from abt.com before, the link has listed prices for some of the 2013 models. For instance, the 60vt60 is back ordered 7-10 days, according to their website this means they expect to receive stock from the manufacturer in this time frame, is that realistic? Does this mean the new vt models are only a few weeks away from being shipped?
remush, that is a low price. That said reseller reviees (609) - http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Abt_Electronics
