When I stated that Panny is making a great TV that is kuro close for about 1/2 the price that Pioneer brought the Kuro to market for; the only standard to use for comparison is MSRP for both sets. That you got a Kuro for less is not relevant. End of story. Anything else you post about this is drama you're creating for your own entertainment.

At this point, I think it's possible to say that Panasonic has the equivalent of a 9G kuro with the ZT60.

If this is a taste of what's the come with the 2014 sets, there will be some amazing plasmas released for good prices.

We still don't know what the 60+ size panels are going to measure in mll for the ST or VT, so they be hitting 9G blacks, too.

I don't understand why you keep glossing over and forgetting the fact that mastermaybe was responding to your original unequavalent example, posted below with my bolding in blue, i.e., Panasonic non-MSRP street pricing vs. Pioneer MSRP. The Kuro prices began to plummet because no one was willing to pay retail. They didn't fall from price matching...they fell because they weren't selling at those prices....and Pioneer announced early on that they were quitting the display business (which always kills prices).

The GT/VT50's were released in May '12, correct? So we shouldn't see these pop up for order for another 3 months or so or am I way off? I'm pretty well sold on the VT50 but if I could get a VT60 for a bit more I might be inclined to wait it out.

What if one is "afflicted" with a 9G 50" that hasn't benefited from your magic touch? Wouldn't a 60" or 65" ZT be considered an upgrade and not a drop in reference status? wink.gif

Probably. smile.gif I stand corrected and apologize to all. I posted that so long ago I forgot about the details. But in retrospect it does look like I was changing the playing field. That said; I still stand by my original premise that at MSRP or with prices discounted; Panny brought a TV that is kuro close at about the 1/2 the price.

I posted Pio MSRP because that the price I could find 5 years later. I posted my price because that's what I paid. So; even factoring discounts...we're still at the panny costing about 40% - 50% less.

Pure speculation till we get the zt out to the masses, it could be worse, or better. Time will tell. From what i saw, its atleast as good, but who really knows for sure what the production model will bring.

Sorry but I don't speculate. I see the same comments each year. Last year people were hoping for 0.001fL from the VT50 and I advised them to expect between 0.002 and 0.0025fL. What do the VT50s measure again smile.gif

Need help with Motorola dch6416. It seems the unit is locked by a provider. All I get is "channel will be available shortly". Can I bypass or unlock the unit to get passed this and use the unit?

You have obviously posted in the wrong forum. This is the Plasma forum and you're in the Panasonic Plasma TV thread.

You need to post your question in the HDTV Recorders forum, but if you bought this DVR from Ebay or sumthin and you're trying to use it with your cable company then you're probably out of luck. Usually these DVRs are owned by the cable company and are not sold to the public or to be resold by private individuals, and they usually are not authorized for use on their network.

OK, well, it seems you could get away with either upgrading or staying put. I have the 111FD and think I could get accustomed to 65" in my viewing environment without much difficulty/adjustment (made easy with equitable black levels). Let's just say I'm very tempted by this ZT60 and maybe even the Samsung...may have to wait until the shootout arrives to get the definitive answer (even if it is the LG OLED, which I have little interest in owning at the premium being asked). Of course, I'll probably be regretting any such 2013 purchase once the 2014 announcements come forward.

2014 might be the way to go, but my next purchase after that is 4k OLED, which I'm hoping Panasonic can get down to the $3-$4k range in 2016/17, so I'm trying to make this last 1080P purchase count, haha
