Hi all. My LG plasma nightmare is soon coming to a close, with LG just giving me a check for $1400.
So I have that amount (including tax) to go on out and buy a TV and I have always loved DLP's. The problem is, only the Mits' are left and I keep reading over and over about those light engine failures and white dots that take over the screen because of bad DLP chips.

Walt's TV is not far from me so I can easily take a drive, but I'd trust the sales people at any store about as far as I can throw a pickup truck.
Models I see for sale are the 73742, 73740, 73738, 73640 and 73638. EDIT: Also 73642.
Would I risk the white dot thing with any of these? I absolutely do not want to go through that.
What I am looking for is reliability, decent ability to adjust the picture and no HDMI compatibility nonsense.
Also, I'm assuming 1080p 24 with Blu-Ray from a PS3 is not a problem, yes? It's amazing how hard it is to find that out when looking over TV specs. I do see 24Hz listed for most, but I need to be sure.
By the way, I couldn't care less about 3D, which gives me headache, so that is not a factor here.
Much thanks and sorry for starting a new thread. I figured this was better than asking in all of the official Mits threads, of which there are plenty.

Maybe someone else more knowledgable than I on that topic can give you more insight.
