3D TV not recognized by Direct TV Receiver while using Onlyo TX-NR905 Receiver

I have a Onkyo TX-NR 905 receiver. I have Direct TV HD DVR that is 3D ready, and I have just installed a Panny TC-P65VZT50 3D plasma TV. When I went to DTV's 3D channels, it says either my display device and/or my receiver is not 3D.I know both are 3D Compatible. I am passing the video feed thru and Onkyo TX-NR901 receiver. Does my receiver need to be 3D ready for the feed thru or is there something I can do such that the DTV DVR doesn't think I have a not ready for prime time 3D TV?

My AV equipment is in a closet some 50 ft from the TV, so three is only one common HDMI circuit from the AV closet to the TV.

Thanks all,

Tim in Houston

The 905 is not HDMI 1.4 which is required to pass full 3D 1080p video. You may be able to pass the DTV 3D video if you can set the DTV resolution to 720p, otherwise you'll have to connect the DTV(HDMI) to the TV with DTV(optical) to the AVR.

Is there any kind of switch that I can purchase that would allow me to feed the DTV HDMI out directly to the switch and then on to the TV while still having my VCR and BD Player going thru the Onkyo?

Just connect the DirecTV box directly to your new plasma via HDMI. Use an optical cable from the sat box to the receiver for audio. You don't lose any sound quality at all.

So you'll have to change HDMI inputs on the TV when you want to watch TV vs the BD and VCR. Not a big deal, especially if you have a universal remote like a Harmony.

I only have one HDMI run from my receiver to the TV 50 feet away. That is the only way to get the BD/VCR signal to the TV(over the same HDMI line that the TV signal travels thru) Am I missing something here? I understand the optical to the Onkyo portion

Use a 2:1 HDMI switch to connect the AVR and DTV HDMI cables.

I bypassed the onkyo and fed straight in to the balun and the 3D worked flawlessly over the Cat 6
