Yellow rectangle – take the screws out along w/ the support bar.
You only need to take the screws out of the lower section (marke w/ rectangle)
This is what you’ll see once you’ve removed the back cover, I took a DVI cable out already marked w/ yellow circle. Get the fan out of the way.
Yellow circles represent the screws you need to take the DMD board off. Take all the cables out and take a picture before you do so you know where they go back into the board.
Take the heat sink off by taking the clip off that is holding it in position.
When you take the heat sink off you’ll see the back side of the DMD chip that we want to replace.
Take the screws off to get the metal casing off.
...and here comes off the DMD chip, this is the chip that has dead pixels that show up as white dots on your screen.Replace this w/ a new one. Follow all the directions in reverse to close the tv. BUT you are not done yet! There is alignment required.
Notice how the screen is shifted towards the top right. You need to align the DMD board. It is basically trial and error. When you put the DMD board back only use the spring loaded screws to hold it in position. The other three screws (circled in yellow 3rd pic from above) should be put in, screwed in slightly. Caution: There is high voltage in the rear please take all necessary precautions. Tap the DMD board gently w/ the back of a screw driver. Turn the TV on and examine the result, this will give you an idea where to tap the DMD board next to get it into the right position. Caution: do not tap the DMD board while the TV is ON! you will have to override a safety switch above the lamp area that is there to make sure the cover is back on. I used a rubberband to hold it in the 'on' position otherwise you will not get any display. Once you have the DMD board in the desired position tighten then non-spring loaded screws that will hold the board firmly into position. be careful while tightening you still want to keep the DMD board in your last 'good' allignment.
