3D resolution question

Earlier I asked this question in the Digital Projectors Under $3000 forum and then realized this might be better forum.

I am curious to know if there are any single chip DLP 3D projectors that display 2D blu ray movies in full 1080p, but display 3D like a 720p image within a 1080p frame? In other words, say a projector is setup to fill a certain size screen with a 2D blu-ray disc image. With this setup now play a 3D blu ray movie and notice the projected image is visibly much smaller. Smaller like when a 720p source is natively displayed with a 1080p projector.

AFAIK, no. Playing a 3D BD will result in either a 1.78 aspect ratio or a 2.40 AR depending on the content. The images will be the same size as the image you project from a 2D BD.

AFAIK, only a PC running some kind of 3D software would allow you to adjust both the resolution and size of the 3D images. A BD player won't.
