Probably if you heard audio of the interview, you'd hear that he's just a smartass. And, he has a level of comfort with the aicn guys because he's done interviews with them over the years, and met them at conventions. The commentary he did with Kurt Russell on The Thing would be another example. If you read a straight transcription of it, you couldn't hear how much fun they were having.

I knew you'd bring up their commentary! I was hoping no one would remember it, because it disproves my point.

I was actually thinking of a great documentary on Halloween that I saw last October 31st. Several times during that doc, Carpenter made statements where he seemed sick of answering the same questions 30-some years later. He did NOT seem sarcastic then, just worn out.

I'm sure that's true. I guess the larger point is, like most catalog releases, he had almost no input or control over anything we're going to see on the They Live blu-ray. Often I think directors pretend that they do, but Carpenter can't be bothered with the charade.

Good point. At least he's being honest about it.

The pre-order stays.

If the caps here are accurate (and Firefox will show the Italian ones incorrectly unless you have disabled the color profile processing thingy through About:Config), I'll stick with the Italian disc (regardless of whatever is wrong with it wink.gif and I don't care about the extras at all).

This is all great! I was worried for a little bit there that we'd have nothing to argue about on this disc.

Come on. This IS avs... Only a matter of time until the "teal and orange" debate starts...

It was on HBO the other day. Cropped to 1.78:1. mad.gif

BLOW OUT was also on. The old 1980's 4X3 cropped analog transfer!

Pathetic.

Always liked this movie. Most epic 1v1 fight scene in cinema history???

I wish there had been a sequel to this, so much stuff hinted at but not developed, probably due to budget.

So my wife comes up to me earlier this evening and says, "oh, there was a package delivered for you today." What!? You're just telling me this now? I had to put on my sunglasses and make sure she was human.biggrin.gif

It has arrived!! Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Would have taken a pic of the poster, but was too lazy.

I got mine today. As pictured, the mailing sticker does helpfully tell everyone what's in the envelope, and the alien "BUY" sticker on the slipcover is hilarious. I might watch it tonight.

Only ever seen this on vhs so this transfer looks and sounds great to me.

The DVD actually looks quite good, IMO.

I'd prefer getting the poster, but will 'settle' for an amz pickup if need be.
