Although there are lot of mis-information in this link and is not a game changer at all in terms of what it is providing, what striked me as interesting is how power is supplied to the device. This is because my TV is mounted in the wall and gets power from a recessed power outlest, with only one power outlet exclusively for the TV. I can plugin this device to the HDMI port of the TV and draw power from the USB port of the TV. And since the remote works with bluetooth, it can be fully hidden behind the TV. I would guess that it'll not be suitable for local streaming or HD audio bit streaming but for online content.

Call me skeptical that a device looking to be the size of a thumbdrive will be able to provide a good experience as a streamer of internet video and local file playback.
Where does the LAN cable attach to the thing?

It probably will not have any local file playback. The network connection is via wireless-n. I found one product similar to this and powered via hdmi port itself. Not yet released and probably be better than this. Its Roku stick.http://www.engadget.com/2012/01/10/roku-streaming-stick-hands-on/

Not just any HDMI port -- the Roku stick will require an MHL compatible port. Although, I think there's an MHL-HDMI adapter of some sort that can be used for non-MHL equipped TV's so power can still be supplied.

I backed this on kickstarter, it looked like a good project to me. For $114 (pro version) I can't really go wrong. It has a usb port for a hard drive or webcam or whatever, you can play media over a network using Plex or your favourite Android app. XMBC has recently been ported to Android so I'm excited for when that's stable. At the very least it will be an interesting toy.

And the remote looks cool. By the way the remote uses 2.4ghz wireless technology not bluetooth.
