Surprised to read this. Their Singapore branch today announced a 3D streamer (Realtek 1186 based). Hmmm...

Based on how most of these companies setup shop. its possible they declared bankruptcy to protect assets in one country while maintaining a working unit in another. But seems a little sketchy, will have to see how it plays out

I hope your wrong, I'd like to see Dune bring out a replacement for the HD Max with a significantly faster processor and more ram, but, if they do go bust I too will pick up a couple of more players as a backup as I haven't seen anything that would qualify as a replacement for playing back blu-ray ISOs.

Well, Dune has been very quiet about anything they are possibly doing. Furthermore, the last time I saw their stock on a article, it showed it was declining all the time. Then they increase their prices. I love my Dune, and I also hope they come out with something that is new and price accordingly.

If any new products are coming we will know about them during IFA berlin coming in 3 weeks. But then again that fancy dune PRO was announced at IFA last year and the year before that SO maybe we will see the DUNE PRO yet again with promises of it will be out in 6 months.

Dune's newest media player is still using years old HDMI spec 1.3. Just horrible. I can't believe anyone would spends hundreds and hundreds on one player that is using an HDMI spec that is years old and even an older chipset!! And they have the BALLS to raise prices. Hahah.

Unless there's some feature missing from the Dune which only HDMI 1.4 can provide, it doesn't make a bit of difference.

I agree hdmi 1.4 is not needed unless people want full 3d, But what would be nice is faster general cpu usage, the newer sigma chips with the opengl so we can finally get some nice UI going.

Yes it is terrible that my Dune player works so well playing every blu ray iso I have thrown at it! I really want them to announce a new player that will have some bugs so I can bitch about it. It's just so BORING having a media player that actually works! rolleyes.gif

Unfortunately, ISO playing streamers don't make up a significant market share, and in fact this segment is shrinking fast with most media streamer sales.....except the ATV which is gobbling up market shares, and creating new ones as new sales are being created with people experiencing streamers for the first time.

ATV does not eat into any sales of these companies. ATV/Roku compete in there own space while yes there is overlapping they are still two separate markets. And it is a small market I would say most companies average 250,000 units but its still a pretty decent number, And remember ATV is not so hot in other countries. They all have there own special boxes for IPTV

Dune, PCH and Mede8er remain top picks for 2D. But, with the new 1000X3D, Mede8er may be the top pick if you want a single solid box for 2D and 3D. We'll know in the coming weeks.

wow... I didn't see AC Ryan bankruptcy coming... They were one of the originals that helped expanded this market... who's left in the media streamer/media player industry? Last time I checked Syabas (Popcorn Hour) were having internal issues too.
