just bought speakers, looking for subs and receiver

Hi guys, I just jumped onto a woot deal for some klipsch quintet 5 piece speaker system and now need to get a receiver and sub to pair with em. This will be my first experience with ht so I'm kinda lost. My budget for the receiver and subs is around 500, will stretch to 600 max. Just looking for any suggestions for a sub and receiver and your opinions on the Klipsch speakers. I will be using them for 50-50 music and movies/gaming, but have more importance on music reproduction. My room size will be approx 11x23 (not sure of ceiling size as I havent moved in yet). Any help is appreciated and thanks!

The Jamo Sub 650 on special at Vanns would be a nice one to go with those speakers.

For a receiver, I would recommend the Denon 1612 since it comes with Audyssey MultiEQ room correction software which will EQ the sound of your speakers and sub to produce a flatter response in your room.

thanks for the suggestion, after reading around i think the general consensus is the 1612 is the best entry level avr, so i will go with that. What makes you recommend the Jamo?

For your max budget, take a look at these.

The HSU and Outlaw are basicly the same sub from what I understand.

The Jamo sub has a 12" driver with a 650 watt Bash amp, which makes it a good deal at $300.

It is rated 24hz to 150hz. The Quintets are rated with a low end of 120hz (satellite) /125hz (center), so you would be able to crossover the sub and speakers at 120hz or 150hz.

The Jamo is also a sealed sub. Sealed subs often have a little bit tighter sound than comparable valued ported subs, a plus for music reproduction.

The EX and VTF-3 MK4 are considered comparable in class. The VTF-2 MK4 is comparable to the Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus.

Right now, Crutchfield has the 1612 for $229.99. It was $219.99 up through yesterday.

So the Jamo would outperform the energy s10?

Almost certainly the jamo sub 650 represents a better sub value at its current price of $300 at vanns than the energy.

Jim Wison may have a sub review of the jamo up soon. The 650 watt plate amp alone would cost near $300 if purchased seperately so the sale price at vanns is interesting.
