When are the best times to buy a new tv?

The lowest prices for the 2012 models will be just before or at the time of the new 2013 models come out, thats when they drop the prices of the older models to clean out the leftover inventory.
That happens around the spring of each year, so about 6 months from now.
Some models may be discounted for Black Friday, but those are usually low end models.

The best time to buy is whenever you can get the best deal... the lowest advertised pricing will show up around Spring, Super Bowl, Black Friday, etc like Brisco said. Some TV MFGs went to unilateral pricing so the listed prices will be similar across retailers, it'll just depend on how much you can get them to lower their advertised price. I just picked up a TV at a brick & mortar for about 12% off their listed price (wow - just checked their listed price and now it's about 6% off...)

When ever you can do it quicker than the wife & girlfriend decides they need the money for something that is more important in their mind.

how about whenever you can afford it. anytime of the year is a good time companies are always making deals. in this economy making a deal and taking alittle loss is king and goes along way for total sales revenue

Last year I waited too late to find a VT30, past November. I wanted it for Xmas but could not find a new one, only returns. This year, Panasonic is supposedly lowering their production totals so you name not want to wait too much longer.

The lowest prices I've see so far were in June leading up to Fathers Day.

Tell me about it. I went out to one of the local A/V companies that has been around 37 years to get a pair of Klipsch bookshelves and some stands. Got a nice discount on them, and since I am having to go get the rest when they come in, still another discount.

Tonight we also got the local Ashley store to knock off around $200 on a couch, so you can't tell me that companies, especially locally owned are doing everything in their power to make the sale. Especially if you say the magic words "I am paying cash for that."

I actually think now is the best time to buy. You are not overpaying for a recently released model, and you are not buying "last year's model" just before the new ones are released, and ready to take a value dive. Also many of the firmware updates are out now, so you can evaluate whether or not problems have been fixed.

According to research by CableTV.com and Lifehacker, the best time to buy a TV is February. This is because of Super Bowl TV sales, and retailers beginning to add newer models released at CES.
