Can't start soon enough for me!

Jeez, I just looked at the list of contestants (or possible contestants) and I see another known person.

Lisa Whelchel aka Blair from The Facts of Life.

Cast bios and videos are up on CBS's website. Let the games begin.

Yup, "Blair" is there. I'm sure out of the millions of tapes sent in, Jeff Kent and Lisa Whelchel stood out over others. This is something I am really growing to hate about this show. Enough with the celebrities!

Anyway, oh my on Katie Hanson and Angie Layton. eek.gif

At least we don't have a Hantz in the mix .. I'm sure the celebrity contestants actually do try to get on the show using the same application that regular folk do .. and I'm also sure that quite a few celebs apply .. if you want to call them celebrities .. getting your name out there is probably more important to some than the money (right) ..

As well, the casting crew hope a little of this will drive in more viewers .. I don't personally think it does ..

No Hantz!!~! yippee!!! No Colton!!!! Even more yippies!!! If he was to return, I would not watch. I certainly hope this season will be better than last. You can't expect them all to be great, like the Rob mariano show was. ( I find myself judging them all from that season)
I counted 3 pairs of silicone jobs. Blondie! wow!
90 min. show on 9/19! tongue.gif

Don't get to excited yet. There will be 3 returning survivors according to other web sites reporting about Lisa Whelchel . eek.gif
post #13 of 586
Two fo the returnees are previous medevacs that played once and the other returnee played twice (medevac in his 2nd appearance). I don't have a problem with any of them or the second chance concept. As far as the 'celeberties' I didn't even know who Lisa Whelchel was till I saw it posted here. Kent I knew since I'm a baseball fan.I'm not sure they are there to drive viewer interest Kent should be interestting since he is a gruff, surly dude. Off to watch the videos.

Oh, I don't doubt that they are actually fans of the show and do apply. I just think that when it comes to selection time, the team probably puts more weight behind choosing a known name over an unknown and I don't feel that's fair.

Believe me, I had the biggest crush on "Blair" during The Facts of Life and even though she is still good looking, her presence holds zero interest for me.

I agree 100% .. and I also don't think the "celebrities" drag in more viewers .. now, if they had Kate Beckinsale, Zoe Saldana and Mila Kunis, I'm pretty sure the season would see ratings jump up substantially .. wink.gif

cast official now, 16 days to go, good to see who they chose to return. I was aprehensive of colton returning. TG no Hantz! His brother got booted off big brother for smacking a player. The whole family is weirded out. Penner, Stupic and Russell need to have a fair chance. They could have put a tribe of those who were removed for med. reasons.
We are due a good season!

I'm fine with Stupic and Russell returning, but enough already with giving people 3 chances at this game. Did they really need Penner back out of all who have been evaced through the years? Granted, it's way better than seeing Colton again, but come on.

Probably true, but the players have to agree to return .. there are some people that just would not do it again ..

I dont mind them casting a celebrity or two every once in a while. After all, celebrities are just regular people when it comes down to it.
Im sure a lot of famous people are fans of the show just like any of us, and I dont see the need to tell them 'sorry, you're a celebrity so you cant try out or be on the show'.
(I also thought Jimmy Johnson was a fun contestant and had no problem with him getting a spot.)

It may even make for an interesting season to have ALL the contestents be celebrities....as long as they had the same rules
as all the past seasons. Would probably be fun to watch them have to 'rough' it like some of the earlier survivor seasons!

Or maybe a season with Snooki being on the same tribe as Russell.....OK, maybe not......

I just wish they'd go back to the earlier version where food was hard to come by.

Would love to see them chase a pig again and then watch them try to figure out what to do w/ it when they caught it. rolleyes.gif

A lot of the folks on recent seasons probably couldn't pour pi55 out of a boot w/ the instructions written on the heel. eek.gif

Classic Survivor from the good old days would be great .. make 'em work for it, I say .. sometimes, it almost seems like these people are on a tropical vacation .. it's begun to lean towards "Gilligan's Island" almost ..

Exactly .. the drama has taken over the Survivor aspect .. and the intentional casting of the off center / wanna be Reality stars / etc ..

And what exactly is a "Reality TV Star" .. ?? And how can there be .. ?? If it is reality, then it's supposed to be unscripted ..

Unfortunately, this show became so big that once the ratings started to take a hit, Burnett and company panicked and started "casting" people instead of just picking them.

Yeah, Survivor ala The Hunger Games would actually get me to watch this show. Wish they would do one out of Alasks in mid Winter.

Yep .. always an attempt to get those ratings back to the glory days .. without somehow realizing that all shows eventually go down in ratings ..

Keep it what made it great in the first place ..

After watching the TV Guide preview show. She is fine to look at but dumb as a box of rocks. Plus, what does it say about a 20 year-old having implants?

Over the weekend I was talking to someone about the old school days of the show. I brought up the thing about a guy falling in the fire, I didn't even realize he is one of the people back on the show.
