Projector with zoom greater than 2.0x? Want Big screen & short throw

Due to the dimensions of my new room, I can only have a throw distance of about 10' to 10'6" from the lens of my projector to the screen. However, with seating @ 10', I'd still like to get around a 110" screen. I was looking at the Epson 6010 or the JVC 45, but don't think their zoom will get it done.

Any good projectors with zoom around 2.25 to 1?

You can either get a projector with a short throw or one with interchangeable lens that has a short throw lens available. Runco LS-100 comes to mind for a real short throw and for a not very expensive projector would be the Optoma GT750. There are others, what is your budget?

I'm thinking $3500 is probably about the top of my range. I'm currently planning on doing a black diamond 1.4 screen, but I could possibly up the projector budget if I switched screen to something like the carada bw

A short throw is not a good match with that screen, nor is a fixed offset DLP. When the light from the projector comes from above the screen very far, the projector starts rejecting the light, due to angle, that hits the bottom of the screen.

10' throw for that size screen does meet the manufacturers recommended minimum throw, but I would recommend a little more than the 1.2 minimum recommended.

I'm definitely open to other screen options. I'm still thinking the Epson may be the way to go, looks like I can get about a 6" bigger screen with it due to bigger zoom and shallower projector.

My room will by predominantly light controlled, so I'm really interested more in the ability to leave overhead can lights on some to watch football. Also, I was very impressed by the Black Diamond video showing how little light splashes back onto the ceiling/walls.

In my last setup I had a JVC-550 shooting onto a Carada 126" BW and one of the things that bugged me was how much light it reflected back out into the room.

Any other screen I should be looking at to use the Epson at full zoom, gain a little contrast with the lights on, and help black out the front of the room with them off? I'm thinking my throw distance based on screen width will be about 1.35x

Any gain screen with a short throw projector is not a god idea, especially if the projector has a big offset. Stewart does make the Firehawk SST for shorter throw projectors but with the projectors I mentioned they would have too short of a throw for that screen. You need to look at a basic white screen or a gray screen with no gain. A gray screen would help some with ambient light but you need to make sure your projector is bright enough for the reduced gain of a gray screen.

A note about gain. Manufacturer's list total gain and because a screen might state a .8 gain does not mean it does not have gain. It could be a .4 gain dark material with a 2.0 gain coating, an example would be the Black Diamond .8 screen. I'm not sure if this is there exact ratio but it is a gain screen.
