BenQ W6000 or Panasonic PT AE1000?

I am looking at getting a very good and reliable entry level 2D projector and I am choosing between this two (Benq W6000 or Panasonic PT AE1000). Both are around $2000. Could you please help me decide?

Will be using the projector mainly to watch movies at night. We have a 5.5 m (depth) x 3.5 family room and will be getting a 120 or 130 inch 16:9 fixed screen. Lens shift feature is essential. Is the screen size of? Will be seated 5 meters from screen.

Thanks.

The W6000 should be better but if you can get a panny ae1000, it should be under $800. If you pay more than that, you over paid for it. You can get a JVC RS40, which is much better than both for $1800 from avs

I have a W6000 and an Epson 5010.

I bought the W6000 back when they were selling for about $1400. I had never owned a DLP projector and wanted to see what they were like.

I use the W6000 for TV, it's great for that, and the 5010 for movies.

I never use the W6000 for movies because its blacks are unacceptable – they are gray, nowhere near black. No better than the Panasonic LCD projector I had 6 years ago.

If, as you say, you are going to mainly watch movies, don't buy a W6000. And if you buy a W6000 anyway, don't pay $2000 for it.
