second zone using amp or speaker connection

Is there any benefit to connecting the second zone using the speaker connection or the amp out connection?

currently we are using the amp out and cannot control volume via the denon remote app or web site, could we control volume if we used the speaker connection?

Yes. The 2112CI Zone 2 pre-out volume is controlled by the external amp while on the 2312CI and 3312CI it can be controlled by either the external amp or the AVR itself.
