Ways to stream TV programmes from computer to TV in another room

Thread Starter
I am new to this forum and not really sure where to post my query, hope this is the right place.
My problem is that I want to watch UK TV (including BBC iplayer etc.) wirelessly from my computer on a Sony HD ready TV (analogue, no digital available here) in another room about 10 metres away. At present I have a Linksys WAG 354G which sends to an old laptop connected to the TV, and is ok but the picture only covers about half the screen. This is apparently because the signal is not strong enough. I've been looking into the WD TV Live Hub Media Center 1TB, and various other ways, but have become totally confused. What I would really like is something that will stream the TV content with a remote control so that I can watch in comfort. Any help or ideas would be very welcome, but please do not get too technical!

Can;t say for sure if these will support the specific programming you want to access via web however you can easily find this out by calling them to ask... Dune in particular as they are a small company with great support from human beings.

THE WD Products I'm not a huge fan of for anything other than media storage.

Try installing XBMC on the old laptop (XBMC.org) and use that to connect to your PC. The problem with the image not filling the entire screen is DEFINITELY NOT because the of signal strength in your wifi. It more likely has something to do with the laptop video resolution, or the aspect setup of your TV (Normal, Zoom, Panel, Stretch, and so on.)

If you want a tidier solution (and one that comes with a remote control), the Dune boxes that DesignGuy suggests seem to be good, or the Western Digital boxes (which I don't have a prejudice about. I've used 'em. They work.)

I wouldn't recommend the Roku (I have one of those, too) because its streaming capabilities are tied up in running a server on your source PC (Plex or Subsonic) and it's a little clumsy in operation.
