I thought this was worthy of its own thread since a lot of people probably skim over the SSX thread and would not get this info otherwise, but SSX is getting freeride AND TRUE multiplayer!!!! eek.gif

Some details here...........

A very nice update, and in case it wasn't obvious, it's free!

Sadly I find myself with my pants down, virtually speaking... having lost all of my save games about a month ago I was just building a character back up past lvl10 when the HD went down again frown.gif. I've switched back to the original 160GB HD that came with the system so hopefully that will be the end of that. I think I will probably also sign up for PS+ as I just can't take losing everything, having to start from scratch, AGAIN.

Anyway... I have some grinding to do to get a character I can compete with again, but I am looking forward to trying out this update quite a bit!

Too bad this game is completely obsolete at this point. Would have been nice to see this stuff included on the disc at launch.

I still play daily as do many others wink.gif. In fact, this is the only game I have played since it launched! eek.gif This new update is sure to generate more players/interest though in general.

I've just dipped a toe in with the 3-2-1 events since I've been grinding to earn some cash and level characters, but wow they are a totally different experience. In particular the trick events are a lot like SSX3 since they are now timed, unlike normal Trick It! events.

I racked up a decent amount of cash from a bunch of GE's finishing up overnight and the 3-2-1 events are now fully up and running (yesterday on PS3 it was just an Area Zero Trick and a Bear Claw race) so I am going to have to see if I can sneak some time to run a few races today. Very cool stuff.

Man, sorry to hear about all that! frown.gif I actually just backed up my hard drive out of fear of this happening since you are the 3rd person I have read this happening to as far as SSX players go.

Just had my first go at 3-2-1 trick it! and WHAT A BLAST!!!!! This gives trick it a whole new dimension, intensity and angle due to the time limit aspect. I did hyper speed on Cournoes Mustache and Fast Forward and what a rush! You basically have to combine race and trick and you cant lag at all within reason. You really have to keep moving and pick and choose your jumps wisely to max your score. The first few runs I was not even finishing in time and getting a DNF, but once you get a feel for how fast you need to go on the drop, it is SO much fun. I even met a new rival/friend along the way as we kept going back and forth on both tracks with nearly every match VERY tight score wise. VERY, VERY impressed so far. Looking forward to trying out the race it portion next!

Also did some freeride last night and that was awesome as well. Gives the drops a whole new vibe totally free of competition, pressure, etc......lots of fun!

I did not have ANY problems seeing other riders (sorry to hear about your troubles here JTStarkiller ) or any other issues for that matter.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We had a party of friends on xbox last night going from drop to drop doing 3-2-1 wingsuit racing and OMG, what a ****ing blast! It is such a rush/trip to be flying in front, behind or next to people on your friends list! H2H has really brought this game to the next level!

Also spent a good chunk on Last To Hit 3-2-1 trick it, but on the relaxed time setting this time and it was SO fun. The relaxed option is definitely nice when you are not up for the crazy intensity of HYPER (which is killer as I mentioned in my post above if the mood suits) as it distinguishes itself nicely from a time perspective and you definitely are not as rushed, but you still cant poke around too much like you can with no time limit which adds a cool element to it.

Cant say enough about this new update.........it is FANTASTIC IMO!

Finally got my characters leveled up again. My gear is pretty crap as I have no cash, so I've been playing some GE's to get some spending power. Most of my Explore records remain under water but I've been able to reclaim a few of them, which is nice.

Toe, are you signed up on WinonaNet? I can see how much better you are at this game than I am directly if you are smile.gif.

Oh, I am pretty sure you are better smile.gif. I'll PM you my PSN id.

Looking at a few of your race records it looks like you wingsuit on non-ws-required levels, which makes it hard to compare (I don't, just personal preference). You are definitely better than I am at wingsuiting! I haven't looked at trick scores but I am pretty bad at tricking so you probably have me there as well. Anyway, I am finally back to about where I was in terms of characters and gear so setting some new personal bests recently, which is nice! Also had a good 3-2-1-GO experience recently, where I found someone at around my skill level. Up until now I was either getting my ass kicked or demolishing everyone depending on the level, neither of which was a lot of fun.

Thanks for the PM! smile.gif One of my big gripes with this game is that there in not a seperate "FLY IT" category to separate wingsuit and non wingsuit racing. In order to compete with the people on my list, I have to use the wingsuit......not that I dont enjoy it since I do, but I really wish it was its own separate mode since non wingsuit racing does not get the credit it deserves right now.

Yeah 3-2-1 is best if you have a group of people who are closely matched which fortunately I have for wingsuit. For trick though, which is what I have spent the most time on and enjoy the most, I dont have a group to play with right now and I get bored fairly quick in 3-2-1 trick events. I do have a few rivals, but we only run into each other on occasion.

Tuner pack released today......

We now have access to levels 12-15. Increased Ghost Wins and geo-tag payouts and some Lighting changes.

Hmmmmm..... not sure how I feel about the level increase, I was pretty happy with level 11. Guess I will find out, though.

Agreed. You can read my thoughts on Merq (Todd Smith). Not real happy about it to be honest, but oh well. 1 level no biggie, but 4 and now we have to BEAT our previous diamond record to get the 200k? rolleyes.gif
post #15 of 20
Already posting over there smile.gif. At least it's not 100k for diamond like it was prior to the patch.

Recently gotten back to playing this great game regularly. Any other AVS players? This game is a lot of fun when there are 10 or 15 people competing in a 3-2-1 GO Trick event. Anyone interested in setting up a time to hit the slopes?

I've been playing a bit here and there, it is hard though as I have lost a lot of my feel for the game. My game time is very erratic unfortunately so it is hard for me to make plans to meet up frown.gif

I have been thinking of getting back into this addiction as well. I got more hooked on this game vs any other before it, but I burned myself out eventually. Might be time to pick it up again here and there as it is such a great game IMO. Wish there were more wingsuit 3-2-1 events and the big problem is not enough people playing these days. Other problem is I am on the Xbox, so I could not play with you guys here. frown.gif

Hope we get a new SSX at some point on the PS4 as that would get me to buy a next gen console.

I love the game but EA doesn't do us any favors with how they've organized the online aspect. The "recommend" feature often times recommends events with no players. It seems custom events would be ideal, but they don't enable you to make it a public event, just friends or friends of friends.

I had a blast Saturday night on Curnoe's Mustache course when a 3-2-1 trick event had 25 players in it. Lots of runs going off with no wait with 3+ riders each time. Last night the "most popular" 3-2-1 event had 5 players, just not the same going 1 v 1.

There still seem to be people playing. High Roller global trick events will have 100 players entering. It would seem like there would be an easy way to get 10-15 riders in to a 3-2-1 event.

I'd buy a PS4 too if SSX were announced.
