Guidance requested on first HT....

I need some help.....

I'm putting together a dedicated HT in a new home and need some guidance on projectors. I've previewed a variety of options and think that I have narrowed my list down to the following:

$800 Sony VPL-VW60 (Used)
$1,700 JVC DLA-HD350BU (Used)
$1,200 Epson 3010 (New)
$1,200 Mitsubishi HC4000 (New)

The primary audience will be my kids but I'd like to use it to watch sci-fi once in a while too so, I need it to be able to handle dark movies. The walls are dark and there is very little ambient light when the doors are closed.

Room Dimensions:
- Width: 17'
- Length: 21'
- Wall Height: 8'
- Ceiling: 12' (Slopes up at 30 degree angle)
- Seating: 16' from screen

Based on this limited information, can you provide perspective on the projectors I'm looking at and/or suggest better options?

Also, I'd like to stay around $1,200-$1,500 if possible.

Thanks!

Recomend searching for the official threads on these projectors and reading through them.

You have one projector capable of 3D the 3010, how interested are you in 3D? Will this projector be used for gaming much if at all?

I recomend adding a look into a refurbished Epson 8700UB. And if interested in 3D adding a check to the Optoma HD33 and Acer H9500BD.

My guess for best dark movie watching will be the JVC you have listed or a refurbed 8700ub. JVC's are praised on the deep blacks and dark movie performance but have had issue with bulb life with some models.

Thanks man4mopar.

3D isn't critical and I expect that most viewing would be done in 2D. I'll take a look at the units you suggested.

Thanks
