Instrumental Blues Recommendations

Hey guys,

I'm really into SLOW instrumental blues music at the moment and would love recommendations for some awesome songs and albums. The presence of vocals is alright but I want a guitar to be the star of the show. Bonus points if its a Les Paul tongue.gif.

Here's an example: Eric Clapton - Don't Know Which Way to Go (feat. Buddy Guy).

Thanks!

Check out Stevie Ray Vaughn : Live at the El Macambo. Most of it is not instrumental or slow, but he does Little Wing in that set and it's pretty amazing stuff. Actually, though a lot of it is not purely instrumental, there's still LOTS of improvised musical content and there are some slow burners in there. Altogether it's an impressive performance.

Blues classics come from the soul of the creator, who knows EXACTLY what it means and what the emotions are behind it.
In this instance, THAT person is Hendrix.

SRV covering Little Wing is paying homage....nothing more.

That's hardly fair. He's hardly doing a simple cover. I love Hendrix (and blew a fat one with him backstage at Winterland when I was 6 years old.) But SRV, at least in that live version, is pouring his soul into it and it shows. It's quite a tingler, and he owns his version I think.

I would recommend getting ahold of a copy of "Blues on a Westside" from the album Live At Bill Graham's Fillmore West. Michael Bloomfield's bridge solo is the most emotional blues guitar stuff I've ever heard - and I've heard a lot. Spine tingling. Extremely influential player for good reason.

Awesome recommendations so far!

In case someone else with a similar curiosity is following this thread, "The Supernatural" by John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers is another good one.
