I need to upgrade my Denon AVR-3300 which is now 13 years old and having problems locking into the audio signal...This is happening on all receiver inputs, be it Optical, Analog, or the 6Ch External.

I have been looking into the above receivers and have potential deals on the Marantz ($795) and the Onkyo in the low $800's. I have been looking reviews but I am not able to audition either of the receivers. SO that's where you guys expertise como handy. I like features, and understand that the Onkyo is one of the more fully featured receivers in the market, but care about sound quality and reliability. My Denon has served me well, but seems to be dying now.

As you may have noticed, I am looking at previous models expecting to save a few $100's and not loosing much by not going to the latest released corresponding models. Is this assumption on my part correct or would I be loosing any desirable feature or going for lesser sound quality by following my stated approach?

I would appreciate your comments, specially if you have audition/owned any of these receivers...

Thanks in advance....smile.gif
