Bar - Liquor display ideas?

Hey guys,

I know there are quite a few members who have a home bar setup in their media room, so I'm looking for advice!

I have an L-shaped bar setup in a corner...it is fairly large (6' long)..the area where the bar back would be is my lookout window. The area where I was thinking of displaying my liquor was in the corner.

Anyone have any ideas on how to best set this up?

My idea right now is to have tiered glass shelves ranging from 16" down to 10" (4 shelves total) with a mirror backing in the corner. So smallest shelf on top, then getting larger as you go down...

Any advice would be appreciated!

Sounds like a good plan to start with. You could also line up bottles along the window sill too....

I know light and heat are not good for beer and wine. I doubt they are good for most distilled spirits as well.

Lol...does sound weird eh? Our lot is considered a "lookout" because its not quite a walkout basement.

I had a similiar situation. I installed built in shelves in back of my bar.

I have added a picture of built in Bar shelves that I built with a friend of mine. I think they look good. They give me more space in the area.
Check them out in my gallery(pictures 2 and 3).

Is the bar fixed? Looks like you have the room to move it away from the window a couple feet. You could then put in some wall-mount cabinets on either side of the window, and maybe built-in cabinets below the window. The wall cabinets could have doors, or open fronts, with shelves.

I'd put a shade over that window, and maybe build a valence between the on-wall cabinets, to cover the retracted shade. Matching shade on the other window. Shades controlled with remote.

I'm not a big fan of displaying what bottles I have available. Maybe just the unusual bottles, e.g. single malts, liqueurs, single batch bourbons.. My friends drink enough without the visible advertising!

Some people like the 'bar look' - maybe some low voltage uplighting below glass shelves?

Thanks for the advice guys, I had some friends over and basically I'm going to go with the corner glass shelves (not tiered). The bar is pretty close to the back wall and I can't easily move it so this is the best option right now.

Thanks!

How about a stained glass insert over the window. You could then do a back bar shelving like I did. It's only six inches off the wall. See my build link below.
