New HT setup.. please advise

Guys, is this setup good enuf?

Currently had an eye on this setup: Front 2x primus 253, back 2x primus 153, center primus 351, subwoofer ps210
AVR tx-nr414, denon 1912, vsx-921k.. but still undecided on AVR.. currently went to 1 shop that is selling monitor audio bronze series, but its retail price slightly higher than primus, hopefully i can get better price through bargain. I had personally audited primus+vsx-521k and i am quite impressed with what it can do, but since it is not cheap, i would open to more opinion. I am from Malaysia, so everything is 20-30% higher than US or anywhere around there world due to taxes, so i am pretty limited to choices, my budget is around USD2K, but for that price, i can only get the primus setup i mentioned earlier.

My living room is around 12ftx16ft, not really a dedicated AV room because it has windows and not soundproofed. Another concern is that i am worried floorstand might be too big for the room where it would affect the sound quality if i didint tune the volume to an optimum volume of the speaker; if i am getting 4 bookshelf, i scare i might loss some quality becos floorstand have more drivers compared to bookshelf. Sorry i am too new to AV setup.. need some guide here. Thanks!

Not sure which kind of speaker the 253 is but it is best to get one capable of full range as possible. And would consider bumping the 1912 up to 2112 for the audyssey xt. The 1912 is fine, but it is kind of downgrade form the 1712 and 2112 for a couple of reasons.

butter and jelly please.

Sadly anything higher than that range is just way out of my budget, even 1912 is around USD1k over here after conversion. i tot 1912 has the audyssey auto calibration function?

It does. But doesn't it have just multeq? Xt is a considerable bump up. So maybe look the 1712. You will lose network capability though.

The 1912 does have MultiEQ. While MultiEQ XT is a the next version up, regular MultiEQ does work very well and is better than the room correction software in the Onkyo and Pioneer you are looking at. If the 1912 has other features that you like over the Denon 1712 and that's what fits your budget, then I would go for it smile.gif

oh ok biggrin.gif thanks for those infos. Network player would be a plus, but i will be having a Samsung BD player which is a Smart player, hopefully can replace those networking features. I am using android so Airplay is not that important to me. Is it that 1712 doesnt even include DLNA?

Right. The 1712 does not include any networking features. The 1912 has an Ethernet plug so you an connect it to your network. Here's an AVS post that describes the differences between the various Denon XX12 models.
