4 Infinity 1260's - Completed (with pics)

Just recently finished this build and I'm incredibly satisfied with the output. It's amazing to have real bass now!

I don't take a ton of pictures while I'm working, so let me know if want a more detailed shot of anything. Cabinets are built from two layers of 1/2" birch plywood. I then covered with paper backed cherry veneer. I ripped solid cherry into 1/2" strips for the corners so that I could do a round-over...Flash made the veneer look a pretty "stripey" in some of the pictures. It's not nearly as pronounced in real life. And another thought, anyone that doesn't use Speakon connectors is just crazy. Those are the best connectors I've ever used and they are super cheap.

I'm powering the pair with a Crown XLS1500, 2ohm stereo for about 750 watts per cabinet. The Crown is getting its signal from a Marantz SR5006.

I went from an 8" Mirage sub to this pair of dual 12's. The difference is pretty substantial to say the least.

I still have some arranging to do (hiding speaker wire and moving the satalite speakers up to the wall), but they are pretty much going to stay where they sit.

The grills were made from 1/2" mdf and I'm using some super strong magnets to hold them on. I got the magnets at Rockler.com. And I got the grill cloth from a local fabric store, nothing special, just dark brown with a little stretch to it.

Thanks, and I am completely happy. My overall spend was still kind of high because I had to buy the amp and because I used more expensive plywood (vs mdf) and cherry veneer. Even taking that into account, I'm sure I'm still ahead of the curve for $ vs output.

I'm counting the amp in a separate category though because I'll be able to use that for future projects...

Thank you guys. I'm very happy with these subs. As many others have said, they are really hard to beat for the price.

I hosted a family party over the weekend and my brother and sister in-law both stayed late to hang out. I put in transformers 3 because the BIL hadn't seen it and I figured there would be some good action scenes to show off the subs. He couldn't shut up about how awesome it sounded with the new subs. And he had never really heard my fronts being played loud either. The fronts are Zaph SR-71's. I've been telling him for years that I can build him speakers and/or subs that would kill just about anything that he could purchase from Best Buy, but he never wanted to commit to letting me build anything for him. I think he finally understands that Blose suck and that he spent waaaayyyyy too much money on that Martin Logan sub that he has. I tried to talk him out of buying that sub because I wanted to build him something better, for less money.

The expression on his face for the entire movie made me a happy camper. If I get that reaction out of everyone that comes over for a movie then I don't care how much I spent, it was worth every penny!
