Replacing Kenwood SW-32HT subwoofer

I know the Polk PSW10 seems to be hated, but it is one of the few subs in my budget range. Certainly, it is an upgrade over the Kenwood?

After reading what information I should give to a good recommendation, this are my requirements:

150 budget (I know this is small budget, but that's all I can spend)
Room size: 20x20x12 (approx 5000 cubic feet)
Usage: 60% ht;20% music;20% video games
Circumstances: live in town home, so needs to be good accent, but not too "boomy"

Are there any other recommendations? If the Polk is not an upgrade, then I will probably have to pass until next year to upgrade.

if it helps, I have Polk Monitor 30 for rear surrounds, Polk Monitor 40 for front and a Yamaha VX-867 receiver, which is capable of running 2 powered subs...

Thanks!

Update:
Kenwood Specs for the amplifier:
100W RMS at 4ohms, from 20Hz to 200Hz with no more than .09% THD. It is just an 8" sub, however. That's why I thought the PSW10 would be an upgrade...

In your budget range, look at the Dayton Audio SUB-120 over the PSW10.

I looked at the Dayton SUB-1000 and SUB-1200. I am thinking the SUB-1000 would be an upgrade. The sub I have now can be heard pretty well during movies and some very bass-oriented hip hop (such as DJ Magic Mike) "hit" pretty well to my ears. Metal and rock can be a little 'soft', I guess. And in a townhouse, I have to be conscious of my neighbor. This sub is almost 12 years old, and I thought this would be a good time to upgrade.

Also, the room is 4800 cubic feet, but the listening area is about half of that. So, do I go by the entire room size or the listening area size? (i.e., the couch and subwoofer are not on opposing walls, couch is in mid-room).

Sorry. I should have linked to the SUB-1200. In that big a total room size, I'd go with the 12". Especially if your couch is in mid room. That's often a bass null.
