The cover for the BR at Family Video said 7.1. But, I didn't rent it because I plan to buy.

i rented it last night at Family Video up in Canada and it was only Dolby Digital sound. I saw some black crush in the cave as well, the video quality was good but not great. Maybe the rental discs not only have lesser sound quality but also lesser video quality?

I liked the movie. Did not absolutely love it, but entertaining I did think it was. I will, though, highly recommend it since it had quite an impact on a) my 14-year-old daughter, who, being the age the franchise is mainly aimed at, saw it twice in a 3-day period (a Friday evening and a consecutive Sunday morning), and b) my wife, who was on the edge of her seat and went on and on cursing the people behind the games while she watched (and even after), in wide-eyed admiration. cool.gif

That they got a kick out of this movie is what I did enjoy. What I did not, let me rephrase, what I am absolutely pissed about, is discovering that my copy, which is a Mexican "Special BD+DVD Edition" (we live in Mexico), only contains a DD 5.1 audio track ON THE BLU-RAY DISC, and not the "DTS HD MA 7.1 LOSSLESS 4.7 MBPS" track Ralph and others mention eek.gif. This is (probably) the first Lionsgate BD I have bought, and I suppose it has to do with it being a lesser studio and not, apparently, needing to go all-out on its Mexican releases--just guessing mad.gif.

I pose the question to those who are not residing in the US: are companies like Lionsgate giving you cheaper quality BDs? I mean, I for one decided to jump into Blu-ray because I CAN tell the difference, and thus I expect the premium I'm charged when opting away from normal DVDs to shine not only visually, but SOUNDWISE as well. This, mind you, having 60+ BDs in my collection, is the first time I feel let down by the AQ. Come to think of it, I thought the blacks in my viewing were grayer than usual, might the VQ be suffering as well? eek.gif

For what it's worth, I hope studios would get the message and be more careful in what they have to offer the world, literally.

The more I think about it, the more things come to surface: this review states its aspect ratio is 2.40:1, when I'm pretty sure my BD is 1.85:1 (I remember it filling my 16:9 TV). I'll have to check that once I'm home as well... hmmm... rolleyes.gif
