So, I am moving in to a new apartment (my first) with my girlfriend at the beginning of next month. We currently only have one TV which would be fine except I'll kill myself if I have to share only one TV with her and watch HGTV & TLC on the regular. I figured buying another TV would be a much better move. I can spend about $1,000.00 Here are the things I want for my TV. I am hoping I could source some opinions from you fine people.

-46 - 55 inch
-Smart TV (mostly for Netflix)
-Good black levels
Desired -3D (passive or active)
I've read around here that LED is a waste of money. Is this valid? Looking forward to your opinions and suggestions. Thanks!
