Sony's BDV-E390 Home Theater in a Box is running OK for me.

This is my first AC3 / 5.1 decoder & amp.

EZ to buy, set-up, & play.

Mine came from Sears & the Firmware Update was needed..

I have the Sony BDV-E385 which, I believe, is the same unit minus the ipod dock. I think this is a great unit. I have it connected to a Sony KDL-52v5100 52" TV in a 12' X 14' room. The speakers produce great sound. It is very easy to connect, but I as disappointed that it came with no hdmi inputs. I have since read that that is pretty typical for a HTIB. I had to improvise on my hook up as I was prepared to only use hdmi. Otherwise, I have no complaints. The NetFlix and other apps are easy to set up and use.

No, that is not typical for HTiB systems. Maybe, if you get one with a built-in blu-ray player (which means the system probably has a passive sub-woofer which doesn't produce the deep, clear bass that an active sub would) and speakers with proprietary connectors. Most entry level and above HTiB systems from Yamaha, Onkyo, Denon, etc that don't have integrated blu-ray players have all the inputs you'd need.
