I pre-ordered this without the figurines. I'm too old for those...translating wifey will not let me put those on display. tongue.gif

Day 1. Miles better than Raimi's *imo* (even his Spidey 2 generally regarded as the best of the bunch didn't do much for me). I'm sure it will look and sound fantastic. (oh and...Emma Stone! wink.gif)

The most redundant film I have seen in quite a while.

Opinions are like a-holes, etc.

I dug it and it actually entertained me, unlike a certain film that was masquerading as a Batman movie...

Playing through the tie-in video game and it makes me want this on BD even more.

That's what I thought too...until I actually saw it. biggrin.gif

Seriously, I had my doubts, and they were mostly just because I didn't feel the franchise needed a reboot this early, but then I ended up really enjoying the film. I don't know if I would say that it's entirely better than Raimi's trilogy, but it's different enough that it was worth the retelling of the origin. I think the biggest issue it has is simply the fact that people can't or won't stop comparing it to Raimi's films and just judge it on it's own merits.

Looking forward to the BluRay, but I don't have 3D at home and have no plans to anytime soon, so I'll just go for the most basic 2D version.

Having amazing actors in the leads sure helped, plus the chemistry was off the charts for obvious reasons!
Glad the deleted scenes made it, there was so much cut by Sony.

Well, we'll see if this on-screen/off-screen pairing lasts any longer than the Twilight saga's romance. biggrin.gif In Hollywood, I give them a year at best, even if neither one of them "stray." Sad, but true.

I'll definitely rent it with low expectations. Many said the screenplay had too many similarities to the first two Raimi films and didn't set itself apart nearly enough.

i was pleasently surprised by this film. I really dug it for the most part.

The only sad thing is that the filmmakers/producers felt they had to change things just so it wouldn't be too close to Raimis films which felt unnecessary. If thsi would have been the first Spider-man film and they could have kept some stuff closer to the comics (Uncle Bens death for example) it could have felt "perfect".

Now, the perfect Spider-man film exists somewhere between Raimis film (which I have never liked) and this one.

I get the feeling a near perfect one is on Webb's cutting room floor

The 3D effect is so great. And the story is faithful to the original comic.
Is it correct then, that the basic 2D version is two discs by default? Movie disc and special features disc?

It's coming out in the next few weeks definitely looking forward to it.

It looks like you can preorder from Walmart and get a digital/vudu copy to watch early. But I want to know if you can preorder the 3D version to get the 2D vudu early release and do you get an extra digital copy when you actually receive the discs?

Being faithful is relative.

It makes Spider-Man 3 look good.

The Amazing Spider-Man may have been the most horrible experience surrounding Spider-Man in my entire life.
If I was Marc Webb on the street, I'd give him a stern nod of disapproval.

I can't believe how bad the summer blockbusters were this year. The parody video of prometheus is 10X better than the actual film.

Completely disagree. I hated the other 3. Loved this one.
Spider-man was actually believable and had a soul.

But the movie was a hollow remake of the first...
Was it as hollow as Willem Dafoe's Power Ranger helmet?

No, didn't think so.

The Amazing Spider-man was great. But would have been better without Raimis films coming before it. The costume changes was not needed, and not the changes to the story.

But I bet the sequel will blow this one away.

Best Buy has just announced that they'll have the 3D set in a Steelbook. The case isn't a separate pre-order item AFAIK, but at least it's good to know it exists.
I didn't see this in the theater but am looking forward to renting it (in 2D). I just don't see this warranting a purchase for me.
