Cheap DIY screen for a CRT pj

Hi so i am moving back in to my university apartment in a couple weeks and need help deciding how i should or if a should build a screen for my PJ. I plan on setting up the PJ in my living room we have white walls. My Pj has a lumen output of 900, and being a CRT has good blacks and contrast so i think that a white screen would work best. However as a student i am on a fairly tight budget. I saw that people talked about using thrifty white board as a screen. If i go the TWB rout would i have to paint it? Do CRT have the same problems with hot spotting? Would it be better to build a BOC screen, could i paint that with a roller?

I have attached a picture of the floor plan of my apartment. There are to large windows in the living room , but we are on the ground floor, and there is a building next to us so direct light more is rare then one would think. Also i would mainly use the PJ at night.

Oh the screen would be at 16:9 aspect ratio

any advice would be great, thanks

I would suggest the Thrifty White, and you should roll on Behr Ultra Pure White Interior Enamel in Satin. (...virgin TWH has a noticeable sheen, but go ahead and give it a test run first as that involves no additional expense...)

The above is the least expensive way in.

With the room's surfaces being white, care should be taken to mount whatever "white" screen you decide on as far removed from any such surfaces as possible. (...especially the Ceiling....) If this is not possible, you owe it to yourself to bump things up and at least do RS-MaxxMudd LL as it would offer you some additional gain as well as a modicum of ambient light resistance.

Home Depot and Micheal's Arts & Crafts ( ...if either or both are near your location...)

If you have the TWH cut to 84" long, and leave the Height at 48", you can use 1" around all sides to shoot Coarse Threaded Drywall Screws, and after covering the 1" perimeter (...and screws...) , be left with a 46" x 82" - 94" diagonal screen
