Vantage Q Upgrade

I have Vantage controlling all my lights in the house including many scenes. The system was installed in 2002 (one of the first ones?) it is still working perfectly but I would like to upgrade to Infusion to be able to expand it to a full house automation. The problem I am facing is that I don't have the disk with all the Vantage programming files and the dealer is asking for 40 hrs to reprogram the scenes in addition to the upgrade. I would think there is an easier way to transfer the old scene to the new hardware without the reprogramming as it would be a shame to spend all this money to reinvent the scenes that are working very well. My dealer is saying that reprog is the only way forward... Can anyone please advise whether there is a way to avoid this extra cost? Thank you for you kind and prompt help.

Upgrading to Infusion from Qlink brings the keypads and loads from the Qlink file into the Infusion file, no programming at all.
You do have to reprogram all of the data.
How large (modules/keypads) is you system?

BTY I believe that Qlink is 15 years +- old.

Thank you Westco Jack; much appreciated!
Today and before reading your kind reply, I called another dealer here in the Valley and he said the same thing. In fact, he came to m y place and downloaded all the programs in 5 mins and now I am awaiting his quote for the upgrade. Any ideas on what I should expect price wise? the first guy quoted about $2500 for the kit + the infamous 40 hrs of reprogramming mad.gif

I believe it's 8 modules@ but not sure. i have several scenes more than 20 and some 150 light bulbs.

If you look into the enclosures and count the 6"x6" or so metal boxes with the fins in the enclosures you get the module count.
Then you need to count the wall keypads (switches).
Please let me know.
Also part of the upgrade should include providing the cat 5 to the network, and configuring the Vantage system to see the network, and be available via the internet.
Also, have them include programming for one iPad, iPhone or Android device.

Hi AZMoor.
I installed Vantage Qlink (12 modules) in 2002 also and am planning to upgrade to Infusion. I did all the programming myself and would like to do so with Infusion. When I designed the system I went a bit overboard and installed many multi-key pads not used and I didn't buy custom faceplates. I've been too busy with my vineyard/winery to notice the major changes in Vantage until now. Very different company! Now I'd like to ugrade and finish the job - so to speak.
I downloaded all programs using an old XP laptop - no problem.
I would like to install a sound system that can be controlled via my LAN using an iPad, Droid or any computer. This could be through Infusion, if I understand correctly? But this could be accomplished without using Infusion, I think?
Any comments or suggestions appreciated. Westcojack sounds like an expert here.
Thanks.

What appellation?

Sounds like you kind of messed up the last install, poorly designed and unfinished. Going to be different this time? What will you do differently?
