Hi,
I'm getting a Blu Ray player and I was hoping someone could enlighten me on the subject of DVD upscaling. I know that it won't make the DVDs look just like Blu Ray but will it make the picture noticiably better? I ordered a LG BD610 for under $30 so I felt I had to buy it.

Welcome to AVSForum.

The toughest task in DVD processing is getting the deinterlacing right. This is surprisingly hard to do and yes it can make a big difference.

A few years ago there were online database of tests showing which players could do what, but those seemed to have lapsed. There is less interest now because Blu-ray native titles do not need to be deinterlaced.
