My Acoustimass 16 is connected to onkyo 709 receiver. I get a thump sound when i on the receiver. Occasionally also get the thump when i change to different modes (DVD to CABLE or cable to games etc).
I bought the speaker and the receiver from the US for use Bangkok. They were converted from 110V to 220V! Please advice if have any solution. The Thump sound comes from the Acoutimass Module.

It happens quite often. IC chips start to go bad and you get that characteristic thump changing sources or when turning it on or off. It should be fine for a long time until it totally goes.

I doubt it is your sub. It is most likely the receiver. Speakers usually don't make any noise unless a signal from your AVR tells it to make some noise.
