Pairing Klipsch Reference I speakers with II

Hello everyone, I have been silently lurking these forums just reading through home theatre builds for some time now and the amount of information that people can give out is absolutely amazing!! With that said, I have a quick question.

I have a little situation I would like some input on. I am putting together a reference line setup but due to finances have to put it together piece by piece. I had originally got a set of rf-62s for a steal and just yesterday picked up my rc-62 only to realize that the centre is a rc-62 ii, doh! Also turns out I can't easily get my hands on the last generation around here now... Has anyone had any experience mixing 2 different generations of Klipsch speakers or should I look to try and replace one of the 2 and work from there?

I don't have any first hand knowledge of the speaker in question, but usually generational changes are fairly minor. I'm sure the voicing is very similar, so there won't be any glaring sonic anomalies as something pans from speaker to speaker, which is what you really want to avoid. Keep in mind, many people get a center that is COMPLETELY different from their front mains and are perfectly happy, although I'm in the camp with those who do want the same tonal balance among all your speakers.

I have the rc-62ii with first generation rf -82's and they sound great together.

From what I have read, the only changes are the crossover points. They should sound very much alike, personally I wouldn't have any hesitations mixing them.

You should be fine. When they first came out a poster on here had 2 RF-62 up front and wanted to run 3 across only to find the one he received was the RF-62II...Before opening the box he called Klipsch and they confirmed he would be okay. He then set it up and reported back he heard no difference and they blended great.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick replies everyone. I was listening to them all again and wasn't really being thrown off by the differences but was hoping second opinions would back up my thoughts. Now I just need to buy a house and start building a home theatre...
