Counting Cars

What do you folks think about "Counting Cars"? To us it has been okay so far. I was expecting more of a "in the shop" show.

I'm still on the fence. I liked Rick and American Restoration when he would visit the pawn shop. I don't like his show. I'm afraid the same is going to happen with Count.

Are you saying you also don't like American Restoration? I believe AR's & CC's format is very similar. Neither will ever be a hit. IMO CC wastes too much time hyping the casts "too cool for school" demeanor.

Thanks for responding.

I agree. They need to spend more time on the classic vehicles and less on the "Check out my cool tattoo's"

I prefer the "Wheeler Dealers" format on Velocity where "Ed" restores the vehicle and explains what he's doing.

Wheeler Dealers is by far our favorite.

I've like "Counting Cars" so far, especially when when Danny told what's his name he was keeping the GTO!

"American Restoration" doesn't do much for me. I am a big fan of "Pawn Stars", but if they spin off a show using the bearded Clark County Museum Curator, I just might take the History Channel off my favorites button. wink.gif

I like Pawn Stars, but Danny always seems way too glib and condescending for my tastes.
Of course, YMMV.

I caught a couple of episodes last night. There was some shop work shown developing a motorcycle for a paraplegic and a trip to the auction. The totally stage...errr... 'random' encounters with strangers and offering $50,000 in cash, on the spot, for their custom car or bike is lame and plays up Danny's 'Look at me...I'm a Baller' persona.

Even though I really want this show to be successful it is the one of the most contrived on TV.

The "Count's" Bandana and pony tail is, well, you decide. It seems to be about the Counts style and look. The "Money Guy" is extremely annoying, yelling and preening for the camera. Now for the limited amount of time they give the car builds, they seem to do very nice work. The Bullitt was great, the GTO looked really good, , the El Camino looked tight...The Bike... They do great work... Looking forward to next week's Super Bird...

What...no props for the El Rancho pool table? eek.gif

I'm still liking the show. It seems Danny's personality is one of those like it or hate it type things. Personally, I think he's always come off as a nice and colorful kinda guy on both this show and Pawn Stars.

While Danny is very likable it's things like that ridiculous pool table that proves the show is so scripted and contrived. Nevertheless, I plan to still watch.

He comes across (to me) as insincere and a fake.
Reminds me of a car salesman.

Seems like the same guy we've seen for a long time on Pawn Stars. I'm not saying I want to roll with him or nothing; just that I find him entertaining on TV.

I didn't catch that.

'67 Goat is my dream car, though four on the floor and hardtop. I loved the blue color he painted it.

On this show they don't spend a lot of time focusing on the actual build like a lot of other shows do. They spend more time on the before and after stuff between humans, such as chasing down prospects, etc.

It makes them a little different, but not a ton.

This weeks eposoide proved just how scripted the show is from week to week. The car chase down. The argument between the count and the business manager. And of curse the over cost project. Sad to say I'm done. It's a marginal car show at best.

Does anyone find the "stopping guys in the street" part a bit creepy?eek.gifbiggrin.gif

Creppy, tiresome, scripted and if done in real life, dangerous.

That guy Scott has an annoying voice. He sucks.

I really hope they did not take 40 grand from that woman to fix up that piece of **** IROC Z.

These idiots should be ashamed of themselves for charging people ridiculous 5 figure prices for a crappy paint job! All they do is buy a working car and repaint it. Mike is a good painter. Not a 5 figure pricetag painter.
