Denon 2112ci: Component Video not Working from Wii

post #1 of 5

All,

I have my Wii plugged into my Denon 2112 via component video. It then runs to a Samsung TV via HDMI. Everything was working fine a couple weeks ago. I don't know what I changed, but all of the sudden the video no longer works. I can hear the audio.

I plugged the Wii straight into the TV and it worked fine. I double checked source settings. I don't know what else to do! Anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks,
Casey

Video conversion component--> HDMI is automatic. Try unplugging the AVR for 10 minutes (ie. soft reset).

I've been experiencing a similar problem for a few months now. Rather than a WII, I have an older DVD player connected to my 2112CI via component video and Coax digital audio. My wife wanted to keep my older DVD player around despite having a new BluRay player because the old DVD is a carosel and she can throw multiple CDs in it. So on initial set up, things seem work fine. I define my inputs correctly, and when I select the DVD input, things work great. However, often the next time I check, I get a message on the TV indicating that there is no signal from the receiver. I can plug the DVD player directly into the component in on the TV and things work. I still get audio out of the digital in on the Receiver.

If I unplug power for a bit and then plug back in, it comes back. If I reset the receiver (a pain because then I have to set *everything* back up again), it comes back. Then it goes away again the next time I check.

I did a firmware update today and the behavior is the same. !@#$%^&

I'm about to take the receiver back where I bought it. Any ideas here would be appreciated!

Hi HighFade, try turning on things in a certain order ... tv > receiver > player or dvd > receiver > tv , etc....

@Highfade -

What source name are you using for the DVD player? If "DVD" and the DVD player is the only source using the "DVD" source name then set the HDMI #2 input to "None" unless it is already assigned to a different source name, otherwise it defaults to "DVD" and may be causing a conflict with the component video DVD input.

Also note, that with the 2112CI you can SAVE the config file (to include unit settings and Audyssey settings) to a PC file using the Web Control feature (pp. 68-69) and then LOAD it back after resetting the microprocessor.
