5.1 Small Speakers Recommendation

Hi All,

I have an Onkyo tx-nr709 and now I would like to update my 5.1 speakers.

My budget is arround US$500 and unfortunately the speakers must be small (I will travel with them).

I am seeing Energy RC-Micro 5.1, but maybe someone could recommend a better package or also, individual speakers to compose it.

Thanks in advance.

I personally regard the front speakers in the Energy system as much too small for adequate performance. A 2.5-inch main speaker is smaller than your average speaker in a Motel 6 clock radio.

I suggest that you look at the Martin-Logan MLT-2 system.

The MLT-2 is worth looking at, for sure. There's also the Klipsch HD 500 and the DefTech ProCinema 60.6. The subwoofer in all these systems will be pretty lame though, but I suspect you already know that a 5.1 system for $500 would have some serious limitations.
