Target is going to have 2 book editions of the movie, one with Batman on the cover, the other with Bane.

I also read somewhere that it was going to be one of those lenticular covers, which means it's really one book where you can see both images depending on how you hold it. Either way, I'm going to hit Target first to see if that's true and then decide whether to get the "plain" version for a few $$ less.

You're right. It is a lenticular cover.

Best Buy will also have a steelbook version of the movie. The other 2 movies are supposed to be on sale for $10 too so you could grab all the steelbooks on Tuesday.

Both the Target and Best Buy versions will have a bonus disc. The discs will have different content.

So I guess in order to get all the bonus footage from Dark Knight Rises you'll have to buy a copy from both stores. mad.gif

So my copy is out for delivery today. That has never happened to me before, getting the movie a day early. smile.gif

Nice.
Where did you order it from? Amazon?
It was out here in Mexico Dec 1, 1 week in advance (originally scheduled Dec 7 for Mexico)! Of course I did not hesitate and bought my copy. Had the options of: a) Bat Cowl Edition, b) SteelBook Edition, c) DigiBook w/Comic Book Edition, d) Trilogy Edition, and e) Regular Edition. Didn't like the cheap plasticky look of option a. Option b was okay but broken bat cowl in the rain design threw me off a bit. Option d was cool for the added 64-page excerpt of The Art And Making Of The Dark Knight Trilogy book. Was never considering getting option e, of course. Got option C because it is definitely the best looking one (the double-view Batman/Bane lenticular is very well made and 3D and placed over a quality hard cover), it includes an exclusive comic book, and it was just slightly more expensive than the regular version. PLUS they threw in a cool black T-shirt with the broken bat logo in white FREE! I recommend this version should it be available! cool.gif

Whenever I pre-order from Amazon, I get the movie on Monday. I will get the shipping notification on Saturday.

I have had prime for I think over 2 years and always order new movies and this is the 1st time it's ever come on Monday. Hope the trend continues.

I have prime as well. My movies always show up on Tuesday afternoon. Brazil will be here tomorrow.
I didn't pre-order Dark Knight Rises because I want the bonus disc from Best Buy.
I don't have prime (too expensive) and my pre-order has not even shipped yet. I am going out of the country on Sunday, so if it does not ship in a day or so, I will just buy it locally!

This is one great Blu-ray, pals! The sound will blow you away and the non-IMAX scenes are almost as good as (or as good as) the IMAX ones and the AR switching from one to the other actually adds a whole lot more to the immersion IMHO. I truly enjoyed this little gem. Get yours! cool.gif

Really? I thought it was one of the worst mixes I have heard for a major film in years

Are we watching the same Blu-ray??? Like I said, IMHO. I've read others sharing my opinion, so feel free to differ... rolleyes.gif

I didn't pre-order Dark Knight Rises because I want the bonus disc from Best Buy.

From the BB Webpage, I think it's a CinemaNow download, not a bonus disc. But I'll probably be founding out for myself when go to BB today to look at the purchase options and buy one of them.

CORRECTION: The Dark Knight Reborn is indeed on the second TDKR BD (Special Features).

The Dark Knight Rises Bluray combo pack is on sale at Walmart for $17.96!

Have my fingers crossed that the Bluray in Canada does not have any of the IMAX scenes and is just one standard aspect ratio. I found that change so annoying on The Dark Knight.

It is the exact same release as the U.S. Only the packaging is different with the eng/fr crap...

For those wondering: I can confirm that the iTunes 1080p digital download version of the movie is 2.40:1 constant AR: the source is the same master of the DVD version and the IMAX scenes come from an IP 35mm reduction print, I made this comparison: The blu-ray version is way better coming from 65mm negative...

5.6 GB so very compressed but you can see that the transfer is different regardless of the compression..

If you can download from Vudu, it should have better Bitrate....

I've had Prime since they started as well. Maybe I'm closer to a distribution center. One thing I have noticed though, you have to pre-order a good amount of time in advance. If you pre-order only a week or so before it's released, it won't be sent ahead of time.

You don't happen to know if the Vudu version is constant AR as well, do you?

I'm 99% sure it has constant AR. The shifting ratio is a blu-ray exclusive....

Yeah, guess I didn't really think about that. Either way, the constant AR (and Vudu quality) is enough for me to just rent this one rather than masking the projector screen to a smaller size.

Same here! I actually bought a copy today, but I am going to try the Vudu route first on my Oppo 93 (I have never tried a Vudu movie on it) and if all goes well, I am just going to return the disc since I cant stand variable aspect on my scope setup! mad.gif

Has anyone gotten or seen the Limited Edition Bat Crowl version? I was expecting to see it at Best Buy and Frys but no joy. Also looks like Amazon has not got it available yet?

With a good internet connection Vudu looks (and sounds) great on the 1080p HDX option. Variable AR sucks for scope users.
