Surge protector/power strip/power bars - What do YOU use? Recommendations?

Belkin, APC and Panamax are all fairly good and cheaper then monster. For rack mounting the option increase even further but I don't think you are looking for rack mount.

I think they are pretty subjective. It will ultimately come down to aesthetics and the list of features you want when you do the comparisons. I personally went with Monsters and Belkins but only because the blue LED’s on them match my Marantz Equipment closely. The “features” are more or less the same or similar enough when you’re comparing similar models to not matter much. It will boil down to what bezel and LED’s you like and what you are willing to pay. I’ve used about 5 or 6 different “power” units now and the only difference I’ve ever noticed is some of them make a bit of noise (the monsters I currently have are “Green power” and they hum so I’ll be replacing them as I don’t want any noise if I can help it). Some of them have some additional options or LED read outs etc as well. I liked the Alesis set I had previously that showed AMPs and Volts but they had a toggle switch vs a push button and like every power unit I’ve ever had the toggle switches burn out eventually and need to be replaced so I switched to Monster to get a button (which I’ll switch again to get silent and with a button…I’m thinking a panamax or some other brand but I’m not looking right now as I have other things to keep me busy at the moment).

My AV equipment is on a plain old power strip, the strip has one of those cheap MOV thing I believe against surge but I've read it doesn't do anything. I live in a suburb in an area that has no storm to speak off. Pretty satisfied with power company, no complaint. Only my tower PC/file server is on an APC UPS because I got it free and go why not, and I attribute it to have kept my 10 years old box trouble-free and no crashed HDDs, but that's just because it makes me feel better to have to spend $50 every 2 years for the UPS batteries.

I use the APC AV Series. I have several of them ranging from low end strips all the way up through the S series with battery backup.
