Twilight Zone 2.0 1536kbps audio ( original and remastered)

While both tracks sound good, the remastered track is free of hiss, and especially distortion. Both tracks being mono, I'm wondering why the bits weren't used for 1 channel mono?

There's no such thing as 1-ch mono on BD discs, it's always 2.0 in mono.

In any case, 1.5Mb is a massive amount of bandwidth for 2 channels.
