Using Magic Remote with a HD cable box ?

How is everyone using their Magic remote with their IR HD cable box ? I saw a video about a IR Blaster but one did not come with my TV.
I was using a 880 Harmony on my old set and would like to still use it or just use the Magic remote for both.
