Looking for a HTIB that would go with LG 55LM8600

How big is your room? What are your goals? What is your budget?

Ok... Now that I see your setup how are you planning on mounting surround speakers? does'nt look like you have walls at the correct places.... Would you be open to the idea of a 3.1 system or a soundbar?

Yeah you could do that altho there is no completely wireless speaker. The speaker either needs to plug into a wall outlet or there is a wireless transmitter that is wireless from the receiver to itself but it still needs wires to each rear speaker.

FYI with 5.1 there are no rear speakers, they are side surround speakers. Rear speakers only exist in 7.1, however some ppl as your self have to place the speakers on the rear wall. But your problem is your couch is up against the rear wall. You should have 3 to 6 feet between speakers and couch. And if not then you should have bi/dipole surround speakers and you won't find them in a HTiB.

It has a built-in blu-ray player which means that in all likelyhood the sub is passive so you won't get that full bass sound like you would from an active sub. The speaker wire connections are proprietary so you are stuck with the wire they give you. If you hang the rear "wireless" speakers you'll still have wire showing because the speakers have to connect to each other and then plug into a wall outlet somewhere to power the receiver. They are only wireless from the receiver to the rear (side) speakers. I'd try to find them in a store first and carefully check them out. Flickhtguru is correct about the di/bi-pole speakers. My 5.1 is wired with the side speakers about 3 feet from either side of the back of the couch. Works very well but that wouldn't work for you given the room orientation.

^^^ Honestly at your price range I can't recommend any. I have only dealt with more expensive ones, so I'll let the ppl who have cheaper stuff chime in.

If i were to buy a sound bar it would be a BIC America FH56-BAR. This is a passive sound bar though so it would need a receiver to power you would also need to buy a powered sub to go along with it. OR I also installed a Yamaha YSP-2200 for a customer and it is a powered bar with the 7.1 receiver built in and also comes with a passive sub. It lacks in the bass department but for a slim sound bar with good aesthetics and everything in one package its not too bad. I definitely sounds better than TV speakers. If you are interested in the ones above let me know and I'll give you links where to get them cheaper.

I'm assuming that both devices, the receiver and the tv are ARC capable ,and you are using an HDMI cable that supports ARC. What does the manual say?

It might be too late to recommend a sound system, but I would buy the Onkyo HT-S9400THX
7.1-channel THX certified 3D capable home theater system.

It's a great system for those who don't want to spend the time building a home theater piece by piece. With this system you don't have to do anything to have great sound. Watching movies feel better than a movie theater. Music sounds great too.

One thing to consider is the fact that it includes seven relatively big speakers and one subwoofer, but it's worth it.

The price is right too, under $700.00. It's selling for $600.00 used.

It sucks that the only audio out is Optical Digital Audio( Page 29 of Manual)

Forgot to mention That when using the audio out of the Shaw HD box the sound will not sink with the video of the TV .
Way out of sink!

Is there an audio sync or lip sync function on the avr? Sometimes you have to use that because the video will lag a bit behind the audio (or vice versa) for some sources. The audio out via optical is usually reserved for 5.1 when your are using the internal ATSC tuner of the tv. Some tv's can take an external audio source (HDMI) and pass 5.1 thru the optical but it's not clear as to which tv's can or can't. Most of the time, all components are connected to the avr first via HDMI and then a single HDMI out to the tv. Audio is played thru the avr and the video is passed to the tv.
