After running with the HD66 for a year and then some, it's time to move up in the world. Without busting the budget (a la Mitsu being given away by AVS), is there anything to the $1500 limit that's worth a look? New glasses, if any, do not need to be factored into the budget. Current screen is a 120" manual pull down, nothing fancy.
Requirements:
1. 3D capable - plug and play with both PC (nVidia) and PS3. XBOX 3D optional -- though it probably means the same as PS3.
2. 2D bright - the HD66 pumps out maximum 1600 ANSI lumens. I do understand brightness isn't everything but for the odd time when we watch without going full dark-out, it's struggling while still being optimized (Datacolor Spyder4).
My first thought is the Optoma GT750E but I'm sure members have other ideas (while staying within budget). Zoom is important and the projection distance is approximately 14ft but changable within reason.
Thought folks?
Regards,
J
EDIT:
The shortlist (only based on the ProjectorCentral configurator) seems to be:
Acer H9500BD
Epson PowerList Home Cinema 3010
Though the brightness is the same, I'm hoping it will make it up in the massive contrast ratio increase over the HD66's 4000:1.
