Best way to wire TV USB to Server in basement?

I'm an amature compared to most. My LG LCD HDTV has a USB port to plug a hardrive in. I've used it often. My method to date is.. plug my 60 gig portable HD to my computer, transfer shows/movies onto it and then take it to the tv and viola.. can watch my shows.

How can I eliminate the back and forth? My iMac is in the basement.. about a 50' wire run from the TV. I thought about running a long USB.. but no such thing. I've seen USB-Ethernet converters? I've run all my own cable so no biggie?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks!!

you can't because you can't have the USB HD plugged into your PC and TV at the sametime. Your stuck with sneaker net for the moment.

you could get a NAS that allows USB hosting like my old THECUS but I can't recommend anything THECUS makes. Their support and reliability is awful.
