Depends on the projector and the technology used. I found it very apparent with the HMZ-T1. If you cannot see it, I would genuinely see about getting your vision checked.

I finally actually measured the latency on the HMZ-T1. It is 50 msec worse than a Z800. 50! I am deeply appalled.
That is John Carmack of id Software.

I doubt you would see a wireless unit any time soon. That would likely add considerable weight and substantiated or not, there would be concerns about sending wireless data to something strapped onto your head.

1080p poses a problem for 3D—the current HDMI spec only supports 1080p24 and 720p60.
I bet it would be possible to send 1080p60 3D from a PC with one of those new 3GHz HDMI GPUs though.

Uh, i could see the pixel grid too in the HMZ-T1, but do yourself a favor and don't look for it if you don't see it.
This is my experience with the visible pixel grid:

Notice it for the first few moments
Blown away by the picture quality the rest of the time

Sure you know it's there and can see it occasionally, but the other aspects of the pq are so high that you can overlook it.

I also noticed that the longer i watched this thing, the better it got. Read others experience the same thing.

If you absolutely need 1080p then this is not for you. Many displays do 1080p. But if you want to see something that no other display can do on earth right now than the hmz it's it.

The HMZ is actually so good, you really don't care if it's only 720p.. It's just that damn great

no surprise - i see the grid in z800 3d visor emagin too - but upping the brightness to max hides the grid but sharpness / contrast is sacrificed mad.gif

What i wished sony would also do, is more controll of how big the picture is smile.gif
On sum games the screen got almost to big for sum tyoes of game,s so a inch adjuster would been nice.

I have a couple problems. First of all my head is apparently too big. Secondly I can't get the pass through to work.

The Pass-Through: I bought new HDMI 1.4a cables but I still can't get the TV to receive a signal. My Onkyo receiver doesn't support 1.4. Is that it? If so that's a lot of upgrade expense. Has anyone gotten the pass through to work?

My head: I ran all the stock straps out to their maximoms and it was still very tight when I put on my glasses. They cut the bridge of my nose. So I bought a bike helmet like I saw on YouTube. It is very comfortable without my glasses but with them on there is still not enough room. I think I can adjust it but appaentlt there is a switch soemwhere that turns the display on when you put it on. When I put on my glasses that switch isn't thrown and I only get darkness. Does anyone no where this switch is and where it is documanted?

EASY smile.gif

The hidden switch is the Forehead Supporter, you can disable it in the menus, the first thing I did.

The option called something like "Turn off the device when removed"

Scheduled to hit shelves on October 13th, the HMZ-T2 features all the upgrades we'd heard about: lighter total weight, redesigned head strap for improved comfort, ear buds instead of headphones plus 24p cinema support and a "Clear" panel drive mode for fast moving content. While we still don't have a US price the Japanese damage is 70,000 yen ($894), a 10,000 yen ($127) boost over last year's model which cost $799 in the US.

Ouch. Why it's more expensive than HMZ-T1?

I think the camera could be used for reality augmented games (sony has some on vita and ps3).

What i want to know is if this is a VR set, like the Rift, or it's just like HMZ-T1/2? It's not clear...I guess we'll find out at Tokyo Games Show, on 22.

That cam really made the hmz-2 intresting cool.gif as a gaming device ...maybe ill return tothe hmz again;)

They call it 360, plus they have the block thingy installed on the bottom, we can assume its a motion sensor....

I asked Blaze3D to come and see if he can maybe translate it for us,....

Its not HMZ-T2, its a prototype of something called HMZ-360, probably just a placeholder name

Thanks. I figured out the other question about the pass-through as soon as I posted. I'll try this one next. Would like to figure out how to remove the whole forehead piece non-destructively. I think I'm still going to have to sell it and I don't want to chop it up.

I just threw away money (I think) on those 1.4a cables.

It's still quite uncomfortable with my glasses on. Pity, I had hoped that this could replace my projection system. Maybe a couple generation from now.

Why do you want to remove the forehead support? You cant use the device without it, its the main support point, if you remove it then the whole weight will go on your nose.

Of course you can detach the pads, they are detachable and you should have 3 of them in different sizes, if you use glasses maybe try the biggest pad so you'll have the most distance between the HMD and your face for the glasses.

You can get good HDMI 1.4a cables on ebay for cheap, I paid 10$ for 3 cables, and they work fine.

Just look that they are not very thin, the thicker the better (for the cheap cables)

Also you need to learn how to properly adjust the device and put it on, you only do it once, after that you dont need to do anything just unclick the head strap with 2 side buttons, retrace it to the max, put it on and push the head strap inside.

here watch carefully this video and learn how to properly adjust the device and use it with glasses:

well in the youtube video - they say once properly adjusted there will be no eye strain / discomfort whereas thousands of reviews say that the T1 form factor is very uncomfortable for long hours [max 15-20 min] - do not know who os to be believed - the guy @youtube or the sony users ? mad.gif

but i guess T2 still will be better as it's less weighty with independent IPD slider adjustment and i guess the large forehead pad will also add to comfort

Seems better / worst - HMZ is the only device for HMD enthusiasts rest all is poop smile.gif.

any news of T2 launching in USA and when ?

You need to adjust it yes, but not fully remove it it wont work without it.

It is removable, just pull it back, you should have 3 different sizes in your box.

No idea when the new one comes out, but you should know that when its new it wont be cheaper then 800$ maybe even more.

The T1 you can get a new one for 680$ or maybe less, just look on ebay some big merchants have large stocks of them
post #80 of 1016
thanks for alerting me to the headphones, just ordered a pair on ebay and looking forward to trying them out

HMZ-T2 test (review?), but it's in German: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37j5d2GVcGI Anyone here speaking German? smile.gif
post #82 of 1016
my german isn't perfect but he dosen't coment much on the picture quality since its quite similar to the T1
He says he stills sees a "grid" because the resolution hasn't changed and motion interpolation would've been a good thing
He says the weight reduction as well as the new design help the confort a lot but i'm not shure weather he used the device for a long time before
Appart from that, as for the T1, he says the blacks are very deep, the screen looks quite huge and the 3d quality is amazing

Didn't hear a thing about the new headphones though, so nothing a modded T1 can't achieve so far rolleyes.gif and for a higher price

As I'm sure you all know the official release date for the hmz t2's is on the 13.10.2012 but for some reason my local Sony shop won't be getting them in until the end of October .

Here in Japan you can pre-order on Oct 1st. I plan on ordering 2 if I can.

One I shall keep for myself and the other sell with some new pads we will make for it.biggrin.gif
post #89 of 1016
Thats its lighter is worth getting one for really :cool:was the hmz-1 main issue
post #90 of 1016
As for as I can see there is no preorder for uk customers unless you order them from eBay and that will cost you the price of two for one lol.
Patience is bliss
