in fact T2 'd have been the T1 if they had stopped production and improvised further but then it's Sony - they improvise slow
But since the AR version has the same design as T2 with camera added it seems that this T2 design will stay on for a long time !

we will have to wait for better design casing and improved optics [ non exit pupil forming] ....i guess T3 or never - who knows

Agree the design could been greatly improved, modded my hmz-1 with a skimask mod but sold it on. But willing to give the hmz-2 a good go

Uh, so the HMZ-T2 price on the UK site is now listed as £999: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/personal-3d-viewer/hmz-t2. Surely they can't be serious! If that's really the price, I'd better buy a T1 quick.

What was the price of T1 on Sony's UK site, anyone knows? £ 800 or £ 900?

If anyone comes across a coupon or voucher for money off the HMZ-T2 please post it here. I joined up sony shop UK and subscribed to their offers and promotions e-mail but so far nothing for the HMZ-T2

don't get your hopes high. coupon code from official sony website will never happend! they just keep sending spam..

1000 GBP is way too much. eBay for 2nd hand T1 and save few hundred, that you could possibly spend on Oculus VR.

800 quid at launch if memory serves. I hope they've massively improved something to justify the price hike but from all the info it seems unlikely.

There are still new t1s available on Ebay. I got one from big buy city a couple of months back. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380450397862#ht_3234wt_917. Note that USPS use parcelforce in the UK and they take and age to clear customs compared to fed ex or dhl. I think it worked out just shy of 600 after vat duty and parcelforce handling fees.

So it's safe to say it will cost 1000 usd in US? Sigh. Maybe i'll get the T1, but i don't like to mod it.

why the hell it'd cost usd$1000 they only took out stuff [ipd gear wheel,headphones] so price 'd be less than usd799 !

modding is the only reason - i do not want T1 - i need independent IPD without those huge headphones so T2 is ok albeit pricey so it seems

the only gripe i have is there is no real rival to HMZ series currently - others [vuzix,SMD,cinemizer oled etc] have come and gone without posing a challenge to the might of HMZ series -so GOOD or Bad , HMZ series is the the only choice par se and a serious product on evolution !

in short Sony HMZ series is undisputed king in consumer HMDs arena to this day .

BTW -occulus rift is still in developmental stages and definitely NOT for movie watching!

The US dollar is so low so that's probably why. $1.00 = 75cents here in Japan. It's to low to even profit, which is why I may have to raise prices on my website soon.

I was able to pre-order 2 HMZ-T2's yesterday. I'll get them on the 13th of this month. Plan on selling them on an auction.

The t2's arnt worth any more than £600 GBP and I will not pay any more for them . IDE simply rather go without, **** you Sony your not taking the piss out of me .

t2 are the only ones to bank on since rest have failed already [emagin.cimemizer,smd,vuzix]
Independent IPDs and removal of those ugly headphones is a welcome change in t2

My only concern is - the optics
i have tried countless HMDs ranging from Headplay PCS ,eMagin,generic ebay goggles,cinemizer plus ,vuzix - either optics or video quality or small FOV is the issue !

So far the best in my collection is Z800 3dvisor but it's video quality sucks big time [contrast is very low] despite PERFECT optics !

Give me a killer HMD with optics of eMagin and video quality [HD oleds] and latest 3D support of HMZ - is Sony listening ?

I do not know why the companies neglect optics, after all in HMD - optics are the main then comes video quality and inputs for driver board

What's the use of fabulous video quality when optics suck !

So back to the topic - Are the optics good enough on T2 ?
Does this have a Good viewing angle [Good exit pupil/easy and large sweet spot] or is the same 'tunnel view' to strain the eyes in no time ?

Has anyone heard any information about a US release date for the T2?

Im guessing i need 2 wait for a while before they comes remember last years shortages of them but hopfully the 17th date is abt right.

At least i hope Sony learned to overcome product shortages. If anything pisses me off more than overpriced products, is out of stock overpriced products.

later edit: it says "available now" on Sony's UK page. Not sure who will burn £ 1000 on it, though. Maybe that's why it's in stock, lol. But what about US? It isn't even listed on Sony's US site, only HMZ T1.

I've tried translating it with google, but as expected, the resulted text was quite confusing. But i'm pretty sure about some things. For example, in T2 it seems there is a low input lag mode (by turning off all the post processing) for games, not just reducing motion blur, as previously assumed (Sony marketing was pretty vague about this). And there's a large part of the interview talking about the headphones and surround technology. VPT is the name of the headphone virtualization Sony's using and there's an option in the menus for the type of headphones used, in ear (like the default ones) or over the ear (if you use your own). The rest of text i couldn't decipher, sadly.

If they've got the latency down it could be massive for any vr applications using headtracking. According to Jon Carmack the T1 has over 50ms of delay when with the OLED technology it should be able to get down to 2 or 3ms easily.

After reding sum tgs reports regardig the comfort has notbeeen improved, i decided 2 cann my 2 orders so far
Seems the weight is still resting on peoples noses and that i remember wasnt any pluss ...

precisely becoz of the design which is more or less the same [ with headphones stripped out and ipd gearwheel removed,forehead pad widened a little ] , i decided to wait for it's 'INDIA' realese to first get a demo and them pay as buying and then returning it is a hassle with seller and paypal

If its been in full hd id jump back on it:cool: but maybe a t3 will sort become the hmd i want full hd and wireless.

There are already wireless hdmi solution out there so cant se why sony could try to make that into a futuer model

Cosmetic changes does not cost a lot so came T2 but completely new design - Sony never does like that they are business ppl first scientist later.

So when the demand goes down - then improved thing comes in till then sell sell sell.... that's BAU

it's better than sony in terms of being hdmi / usb powered but bad in terms of 3D inputs.

I am from Germany and read here already with quite a while. I myself have the HMZ-T1 since 11/11/11, and have pre-ordered the HMZ-T2 end of August in the German sony store is in Berlin. As of yesterday, this is now available, and I just keep my HMZ-T2 in the hands (

update : sony has launched T2 in India for a price of Rs.69990 [usd $1330 , Euro 1028] - real pricey , kida disappointing , i was expecting it around Rs.55000-600000 [usd$ 950-1140] but this is way overboard .

Frankly usd$ 1330 is insane but i will consider if it's optics are great and comfortable to wear for hours at a stretch ! Damm Sony

BTW scarl we all will wait for the detail comparison with T1 especially the comfort factor and optics from u

I would like to hear from you about the surround sound quality, with the default headphones and maybe with some full sized, better ones, if you have. Also, i think there should be some additional settings in the audio menu...Thx.

If possible, scarl, it would also be useful to know if you can turn off the automatic colour temperature changing function. It looks from the translated version of your posts on the other forum that you can't see any menu option for this (although it's Google Translate so I might be reading it wrongly).

If it can't be turned off, that's a deal-breaker for me.
