I am so far behind the times that I don't know what is what any more.
I've had these in storage for years. Bought them new and they have never been hooked up. I hope they work!

I also have an old projector in my basement (JVC D-ILA G10) which does seem to work pretty well.
I do have internet (can be wired or wireless to receiver) and the Joey and an xBox (playstation also) which will provide source material
Guess I will have to add a DVD player but I'm thinking it will be incorporated in the computer in the basement.

I'm thinking these are overkill for the room, but since I have them I may as well try them out...
Movies, TV, and games mostly. Maybe some music in a limited sense.

Looking for a receiver or preAmp/amp to be the center of the system.

Money is an object....

If the projector and audio work out, I may get some sound dampening and chairs to go with them.

thanks for reading and helping with suggestions.

I am asking for a recommendation of a receiver to go with my equipment.
I had a JVC rx-888 but gave it away(new in box) many years ago.
My budget is $500 less for the receiver or preamp&
