Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes - Page 4

Worse thing gamers could do is buy this demo. YOU will send the wrong message and have no one blame but yourselves if this takes off. I am not buying it personally on principal alone. Its a rip off and a slap to the face of loyal MGS fans all around the world.

Tend to agree, and I won't be paying $40 for it. I'm still interested in Phantom Pain / 5 though, although cautiously apprehensive to the massive changes he's trying to implement into the franchise.

Here's a word I think you'll see coming up more and more with PS4. Especially when they start diving into GPGPU:

The PS4 version seems to be the only Next Gen version. The Xbox One port seems to be the 360 version with a few extra perks. Kojima seems to have gone all out on the PS4 version, from resolution to dat sky.

Yea but he's an admitted Sony fan so the conspiracy theorist in me says he pushed things a little both ways.

A lot of times when I look at comparisons I don't see a huge difference but the XB1 to PS4 is really surprising in the uncompressed video. PS3->PS4 is a "wow" moment, 360->XB1 is a "oh, that's definitely better".

Also, for all of the $40 talk, wasn't it announced as $19 digitally? Seems a more fair price although still higher than I am likely to bite on.

Side by side, can you tell which is which?

The forum picture resizing/scaling hides it even more. Best to compare the 1:1 cropped PNG's.

Believe the $20 might be for PS3 digital version? Last gen is cheaper than current gen. $40 disc, $30 digital and then I think $20 for PS3/X360.

@ those comparison shots....the discrepancy in the bottom two, at full screen, is just baffling. I mean who couldn't tell which is which and to have such a discernible difference makes me wonder if A). Hardware difference is really playing that much of a factor or B). Kojima's team just didn't give a f* to at least make it closer (90% comparable).

Looks to me like:

PS3 - X360
X1 - PS4

going from top left.
Top left is Xbox One, Right is 360

Bottom left is PS3, Bottom right PS4.

I look forward to seeing what variations this brings to the sky and gameplay. It could end up being a very nice distinguishing feature to go along with the large graphical difference from the other three platforms.

I've been a sunshine pumper for the PS4 since day one and very down on MS' strategies for the Xbox One but, those screenshots just make no sense. Something's got to be up with the X1 screens, they look worse then the PS3 at times. We know the hardware differences are greater then MS wants people to believe but these screenshots make the X1 look really, really bad. I'm starting to agree with Epyon's train of thought, Kojima's team spent more time on the PS4 version and just kind of threw together the X1 version. If not, then it's going to be a long console cycle for X1 fans. Either way it makes me very, very glad I went with a PS4!

You have to watch the game in motion.. The framerate on the Xbox One version is higher than the 360 version. I know some people about framerate differences (based on comments on PS4 to Xbox One comparisons on Tomb Raider) but that does take more processing power. Maybe they could have went with a higher res and 30fps instead but the choice they made was 60fps at 720p.

Regardless you have the PS4 so you get the best of everything, framerate, resolution and other things like the different sky..

Game Informer has an interview with Kojima where he describes how your save file from Ground Zeroes will affect The Phantom Pain:
Quote:
If you rescue more hostages in Ground Zeroes, that will be reflected in TPP. I cannot dive into too much detail, but there will be several advantages and bonuses that people that are playing Ground Zeroes will be able to get in TPP. For an extreme example, your game records, your scores will be inherited. People will start from the same place, but despite the fact that you’re starting from scratch altogether, people that have played Ground Zeroes will have clear advantages over people that didn’t. That’s just for example, but you should see those kind of advantages. In the mission you already played, there are other hostages that are escaping. If you listen closely to the soldiers’ conversations, you will realize these hostages could be scientists or something very relevant for the future.

Redbox needs to hurry up and get PS4 games in the mix, this is the perfect kind of game to just rent for a day and be done with it.

$30 will make it more tempting...
$30 is way better, because that means it will drop to $20 quicker, which is all this seems to be worth to me.

The price drop is only for the UK so far so I don't see what that excitement is right now for?

Been looking but I cannot find any retailer with a digital only version. Maybe it will show up this weekend.

For those who haven't played all the games and are curious about the story, here is a nice reddit for you (warning...it's long and your head might explode):

So I'm reading that you can get a preorder bonus for this? Does every retailer offer it?
