I was also told that it would ship directly from Epson in California. Apparently I am second in line with Epson for the 5020, or so I was told.

I'm assuming folks pulling the trigger on the 5020 do not care about gaming? I ask because I have yet to find a review specifying input lag performance on this particular model. I am awaiting that critical piece of info before deciding.

60ms? Yikes. 40ms is already considered noticeable to most gamers.

You sure that wasn't a 3020? I've seen nothing posted for a 5020.

I will probably do some light gaming on this projector. I usually do FPS and most other gaming on PC, though, so the lag issue isn't as big of a deal to me on this screen.

the 3010 was consistantly measured at 100ms...the 5010 was consistantly measured at 80ms...pc said that with fast processing on..the 3020 measured 67ms..now epson was right..they drastically reduced the gaming lag on the 3020 by 33ms..that is significant..but still not enough..I'm hoping the 5020 will also get 33ms fix at MINIMUM...that should put the 5020 around 47ms..or somewhere around there. This is just a guess..I can game fine on a 5010 after about 15 minutes adjust time measured at 80ms..so I should be just fine around 45-50 ms..so give epson a little bit of credit...they did what they said..they significantly lowered the 3020 lag time by 33ms...just definately not enough...epson...you are gonna lose more sales again this year..hope you are listening.

We checked with Epson and this is their response:

"On the new models, Epson is not drop shipping for any customers. They are not sure how that impression got out there, but they are doing business the regular way, shipping customer’s distribution centers."

Until it is available it is anyone's guess if there is significant improvement. If gaming is important you might want to look at the lower priced Sony SXRD models, the HW30 and HW50(which also includes a replacement bulb). Sony has already proved low lag times.

I wish I could go the sony route...my problem is I have 12 and a half feet throw distance...and a 123 inch screen...so its gotta be an lcd with the great zoom...like the ae8000 or the 5020...problem is I can get the 5020 for $800 less than the ae8000 although I'd rather go the ae8000 way! and sharks are my biggest fear...jsil...that avatar is scary as s%^&.. is that real? Could you imagine being in the water with that staring at you?

Just received the 5020 from FedEx a few minutes ago that I ordered from projector people! Will be setting it up in a few hours.

It was shipped from Epson Distribution Center in Plainfield, Indiana.

That's great news and now let the fun begin. Can you check out 3D and how much ghosting/crosstalk has been improved thanks. I'm looking at the Epson 5020 and Benq W7000 as my next upgrade. biggrin.gif

First post here! Long time lurker.

Great news that you've got it, I'm after this model (TW8100 in the UK I think) and wondered if you could also check if they have now allowed the frame interpolation in 3D? I know the DI works in 3D now apparently but I'd love the FI (on 'low'naturally).

I think DI is active in 3D but not much else. I believe Panasonic upgraded to a dual-core graphics chip to handle FI in 3D on the 8000. Perhaps Epson stuck with the old processor? Just a guess.

I ordered on the 13th. They never gave me a tracking number, I was just told by customer service to expect it today.

Just got it up and running and so far I am impressed!

(But this is my first projector and have nothing to compare it to.)

I am not a gamer so have no idea or means to measure lag times. Sorry.

Reviewer guy in russian forum, who visited IFA 2012 said that Epson TW9100's FI is not working in 3D. I'm pretty sure other analogs are the same regarding this function.
