Need a good but cheap univeral remote

Not for me but for my friend across the street. I hung a flatscreen for him and put conduit in the wall to snake up his HDMI cables intenet and remote extender extension cable. All as he has to control is the Sony 46" led and a Fios HD stb. It would be nice for it to do macro's so one power button press turns on/off both devices and gives him full functionality of at least the Fios. It's been so long since I've relied on IR remotes that I have no idea what to suggest to him short of a small Crestron system.
I'M SPOILED...:

URC A6?

I recently added a Comcast SD STB, and the provided 'free' budget RC operates the old CRT TV perfectly, with a code.

Any chance the STB can be left turned on indefinitely? The TV remote may be all she/he needs.

Jautor uses a consumer URC that does macros, that's incredibly affordable - search his posts for URC; might be that A6 mentioned above.

Edit - he is using the URC WR7
